Middle of the road fixed knife?

Going to echo the Buck recommendations. Have a buck folder that never leaves my pocket. Gets screaming sharp with just a work sharp field sharpener, holds an edge well and is inexpensive enough that I wouldn't feel too bad if I lost it. I know they make some fixed blades out of higher end steels, might look at those if you prefer s30v/magnacut/etc.

I have a few Mora knives and while I like them for their purpose and value, I hate the sheaths. The sheaths function fine, but just look cheap and lame.

totally agree and the handles make them heavy as hell.
if they had a shorter blade, and not a stupid handle. just skelotonize it.....oh baby that would be a sweet knife

whats the steel on your buck? they have caping knife that has a great price and weight...although i think it is a 420hc not sure if thats good or bad....1.6 oz though..

It's 420HC. Bucks heat treats are the stuff of legend and it's a tough knife. Takes an edge like nobodies business. Was backpacking and used it for normal backpacking chores: cleaning trout, cutting Paracord, shaving kindling and I just touched it up on the work sharp and it was back to shaving sharp. I would have no reservations picking up a buck knife in 420hc. Think I picked it up for $50 at Walmart in 2018.

Imma KoA fan (Knives of Alaska). I have a few of them for hunting and for butchering at home. They have been pretty good to me over the past few years. No complaints here.

Argali carbon&serac are both fantastic options. Sv35 blades which work well and take an edge with little effort. Or you can get them in magnicut, few can notice a difference.
