Michigan grouse….

I’m traveling up to republic mi beginning of November on my way to SD, just looking for some advice with what kind of timber tracks/habitat to look for. Anyone wanna meet up and run dogs ?

Haven’t hunted that area for grouse, but shouldn’t have trouble finding birds in the UP. Might be worth looking at a GEMS if they have one in that area, imagine there’s something not too far away. They do generally get hit hard, especially Friday through Sunday, but they can be good for figuring out what habitat the birds are in at whatever particular time of year and using that info to find other spots.

100%, but as someone new who doesn’t know “what” to look for, they do provide that context.

i hunted south west of there last year. and found birds in pretty much every cover we tried. although it was in October.
