Took me 12 years to draw a good Michigan tag. Going it alone on public land with a bow. Baiting opened up last week. Lots of rain the first few days kept things slow. Finally starting to see some good daylight bear movement. Would love some feedback on what everyone thinks size wise

I’ll be in Baldwin unit. Just the last 48 hours starting to get multiple bears on cams

Should be a good area, I would definitely try several areas and see what comes next definitely off to a good start! Good luck

Good luck with your hunt. It is a great feeling doing it yourself. My Drummond Island hunt will always be a highlight. I don’t thing any of those bears shown will hit a 6’ square. That area looks very open. Do you still get 3 baits on public land? If so I’d put a couple more in some thicker areas.

To me they always look bigger on a game cam than they are.

It depends on what you want. If you just want a bear you could probably hold out on this hunt for a big one and cross the bridge in a year or two and just get a bear. But if that's not a practical option for you then they'll all eat.

Look up Bernie berringer from Minnesota for lots of info on baiting and nocturnal bears as it relates to bait location and practices.

This beat has become Semi regular. Normally about 20 min to dark

I think that's a 3 year old. Still has fairly big ears, shoulders are a touch filled out, a little dip in the belly, I'd say 180-200 live weight.
