Looking to pick up a stock for a tikka with higher comb and vertical grip. Narrowed it dow to the Mesa altitude or McMillan Game Hunter. Wondering if anyone has feedback on either, or especially if they’ve tried both?

I have both. Like them both. Both give me a good check weld. The vertical grip feels perfect in my hand on both and they put my trigger finger where it needs to be. Fitting them to my rifles took the same amount of work. I would recommend either. Both stocks greatly reduced the weight of my rifles. The Mesa has a little edge in that.

My favorite rifle has the Manners EH1. That’s another one to consider but any of the three works for me.

Have both, prefer the Mesa, as it lacks the monte Carlo cheek. It's what the game hunter should have been! John did a good job on the design.

I will have both tomorrow. My Mesa will be delivered and I already have the Game Hunter on my 6.5 PRC, which I love. I’m hoping I like the Mesa as much.

Appreciate all the info guys. For this with both, is there any difference in the palm swell / grip area thickness between the two?

It was cut to 18 and threaded for my suppressor. Still the factory sporter barrel.
The stock feels great and not bulky at all

Rodney,

For some reason your gun looked like it has been chopped and a muzzle break has been added. How do you like the stock. Does the forearm feel bulky?

I just received my Mesa last night, and I checked the palm swell for you. The swell on the Mesa is larger/thicker than the Game Hunter. I’m not sure how much I care about that but given a choice I would probably choose the smaller diameter swell. The Mesa is indeed a very nice stock, but if I had to choose between the Game Hunter in the carbon fiber or the Mesa I would probably choose the Game Hunter. My Game Hunter is not the ultralight carbon fiber though so I fell like the Mesa is a nice upgrade on my PRC.

Q Cherry Bomb in this? I'm looking to cut down a 30-06 for my brother who is a new shooter, and I'm thinking about adding a brake to help him learn to handle recoil. How well does it work as a brake? What is your rifle chambered in and how much does it weigh? Thanks!
