Merino Wool boxers.. First Lite?

I have some pretty cheap 100% merino boxers that I got off Sierra Trading Post a while back.. They work OK.. Thinking about dropping some cash on a couple pairs of First Lite boxers..

Anyone have experience with these? Any other brands that are better I may not know about?

Not that you want to know this but my underwear drawer is full of them. Very comfortable.

How well do these wear? I bought a pair of icebreaker merino boxers a couple of years ago. They felt great and were awesome on a week long hunt, but I blew a bunch of holes in them on the first trip. The merino is so fine they don't last very long. For $50 boxers, I would hope you would get a couple of years use out of them.

I have had first lite boxers for three years and love them. During deer season here in WI they get washed after every weekend hunt and have not shrunk a bit. They have been very durable.

I like mine - they are comfy and relatively stank free but I have only been able to get just under a year out of the 2 pairs I have had. Both developed a small hole on the inside of one of the legs and it just keeps getting bigger.
In all fairness FL has replaced one already.

i find that no matter what merino boxer i wear it has a shell life of a year max. i really really like the exofficio boxers, they are amazing, and i know they are synthetic but ive worn them on 3-4 day trips with one pair they do not get that synthetic smell. i dont know what they do or how they make them but they just dont get smelly. super light, comfy and dry in a flash, good stuff.

I agree on the exofficio give n' go boxer-briefs too. It didn't take but 3 months for me to wear out the FL, not so with the exofficio.

I've had good luck with smartwool boxers. Haven't tried fl or exofficio to compare.

I have not used First Lite boxers, and I'm sure they are awesome. But I have been using minus 33 for boxers the last couple years and don't see a need to change. And you can get them at around $30 a pair.

For me the First Lite boxers completely wore through on the inner thighs in less than a season, although they are very comfortable and no smell. The Core4 merino blend boxers have worn much better for me and almost as comfortable as the First Lite and no stink. The ExOfficio Give-n-Go boxers are very comfortable also (like cotton comfortable), but do start to stink just a little after a couple of days.

I have had good luck withe Sitka Merino boxers, but like the idea of the longer leg on the First Lite boxers. Assumes that helps to keep them from creeping up?

for me by far my favorite are the icebreaker merino boxer brief with fly 150's, i always bring an extra pair on warm weather trips in the alpine. have lots of time in them with little to no wear, crazy how they compare to under armor synthetics etc.... for me i hated the xtra length of the first lites..... much prefer less material and have no problems, no riding up, amazingly no stink even after multi day use, not sure how it is but it just is......

I've used the core 4 boxers for a couple years and they do great, especially at $16 a pop. Haven't tried the FL though.

the FL red deserts are most comfortable pair of anything ive ever worn ever. used the core 4's they were so so. tended to ride up and did not last, but yes there cheaper. after switching to the reddeserts they could be 80 bucks and id have to buy them. i dont think i could go back to anything else now

Not to hijack the thread but it seems related. Are the Allegheny bottoms tougher than the red deserts? They are mid weight material instead of lightweight merino. I'm looking at picking up a pair and hoping that they last longer than the red deserts which, for me, make for pretty expensive lounge wear (albeit they are pretty dang comfortable).
