looking into some under britches for hunting, hiking etc; kinda hard to choke down $50 for a pair of underwear, does anyone have any ideas? and whats the pros and cons to merino vs synthetic and are they worth it?

If you are wearing them multiple days then go with merino. The synthetic really starts to stink after a day or two of sweating.

If you are just getting out for the day then it doesn't make much difference. In this case, maybe go synthetic because they dry a little quicker.

wool!

synthetic can stink, don't breathe as fast and can lead to an itch

The first lite are a little spendy but worth every penny in my opinion. If money was no object I'd wear them everyday.

they look real nice, the website said that some are 35.00 but i couldnt figure out which ones, i could choke down spendy 35 a little easier than 50. In all reality there is no reason to have camo ones, unless you plan on goin out like Tarzan

I have the FirstLite and they are worth the money. Two pairs for 10 days is plenty. You can always wash the first pair and let it air dry.

I use synthetic underwear. Target sells them cheap (C9 by Champion). I like them more than merino because they dry much faster. As far as smell, I have found it hard to distinguish. Several days into the woods and my body smells enough that the smell of my clothing makes little difference. If I am going to wash myself, I'll just wash the underwear as well. Synthetic dries very fast and from my experience, lasts much longer.

Pick up some merino on sale from STP . I paid less than $28 a piece for mine and dollar shipping. Get on their deal flyer email and wait for 35% off and 99 cent shipping. You will have to order probably $75 or more to qualify but that's less than four pieces. I got natural and I'm going to dye it brown.

Hey Shrek, if you can fix the merinos, why can't you do the same with your boots???:) Did you ever get a pair to work?

BTW, that is a deal worth doing if you need them. Why are you going to dye them? Personal issues that you dont' want to disclose? Sorry, couldn't pass that one up.

Clearly you've never stretched whitey tighties for 5+ days. There's a reason I buy them in black LOL
