Merino mid layer hood?

I have a Kuiu’s pro merino 200 quarter zip that I wear as a mid-layer.
I like it a lot.
You can get it with a hood.

Thanks. I've looked into that one. I like it other than the polyester shell. I like the dull no shine of merino.

Maybe try the Kuiu Kenai active insulation jacket. Comes in 3 camo options. Pretty versatile piece.

Don’t sacrifice in garment quality because it “needs” to be camo.

If you’re dead set on needing Merino as the mid layer (works fine but not as good/versatile as a waffle or grid fleece) then the ridge merino convict canyon hoodie is quite good. It’s a merino blend that’s holding up well in about 8 months of use so far.

I’d personally recommend the Patagonia R1 Air as your mid layer though if I had to choose just one for all hunts. I’ve been using that piece since it released in 2020 for backpacking and hunting. From Arizona desert to Alaska tundra, it’s an incredibly versatile price of clothing.

The animals don’t care if it’s not camo…

I consider my FL Kilns as a mid layer and theyre my favorite piece they make and about the only FL stuff I have left. I wouldnt wear it much as an outer layer in the woods though.

What kind of hunting are you going to be doing?

I have every piece listed so far in other replies aside from the SKRE, but it's hard to give input without knowing what you'll use it for.

And as much as I love Rinella and what he does for hunting, there is no way I would buy anything from a company funded by Churnin group. They support and fund democrats including Newson.

If you're dead-set on 16oz or less, Merino, for Archery Elk, then my advice would be to grab a Stone Glacier Chinook Hoody and your vest of preference.

Here in Washington, 80%+ of my hunting conditions and applications from August through October are covered by a lightweight Merino blend tee (Duckworth Vapor is great) + SG Chinook Hoody + Sitka Jetstream vest.

Compared to the most similar recommendation (thus far) in the thread -- the Ridge Merino Convict Canyon, I much prefer the extra length, material composition, and overall drape, of the Chinook over the Convict Canyon for hunting applications. I converted my Convict Canyon to a casual wear piece for warmer weather.

Happy to post comparison photos if helpful.

Pnuma Gunnison, Duck Camp Barnburner, Sitka Core Merino 330. Your list of options gets pretty short when you exclude First Lite and Kuiu and require camo. Those are about the only ones I can come up with and I have no experience with any of them except the Pnuma. I like the material and features but the fit was weird for me. Mine is an older version so I don't know if it's been updated and fit can vary widely for different body types so maybe it works for you. Minus 33 makes good merino, Duckworth, Stone Glacier, Ridge, etc. but lack the camo.
