So every year it seems I come away from these hunts with some memorable moments.

I think this years moment on my Montana archery elk hunt is seeing the look on my buddies face after he shot a bull we called to 15 yds of him. We had such a tough hunt with many miles under our boots that his expression was one of adrenaline/relief/happiness/wonder and exhaustion all wrapped up in one. It was cool....I think I was happier than if I would have shot that bull myself.

Any memorable moments on your hunt this year?

How about coming back from a really really long day of hiking at dark and tripping on your tent guy line causing me to fall into the middle of my tent breaking my trekking pole which was one of the tent supports and it also jabbed into my side. Could have been worse but a moment I will not forget or likely do again.

Will never forget looking over my right shoulder and catching a mountain lion following me at 24 yards, resulting in the opportunity to take my first cat with a bow.

Still have some hunts left but so far its riding the horses back in the pitch black dark in BC for a couple hours crossing rivers with nothing but hope the horse knew its way and wouldn't step into a deep pool in the river. Very cool experience.

The smile on my buddies face when I shot my deer and when he shot his. Those are what I hunt for. Nothing like ear to ear grins.

My memorable moment was watching my wife drop her first antelope, and me realizing my wife may be a better shot than me. After 4 years of hunting my wife has pulled the trigger 4 times (one miss that was my fault) and killed 3 animals. I have pulled the trigger 10 times (only one miss) and killed 4 animals. I guess that's why I'm mainly a bow hunter.

Having another 6 pt. with cows come in bugling to 75 yds. while we were quartering mine.

Memorable moment so far this year was spring bear hunting.
I decided based on cam pics that I should go in to the bait in the middle of the night to avoid bumping bears off the bait. Went in at 2:30 in the morning and bumped momma and baby of the bait in the pitch black , when I turned on my headlamp they were only 40 yards from me (briefly regretted bringing the bow instead of the rifle).
They nonchalantly circled downwind and came back in to the bait not 5 yards from the base of the tree I was going up in my climber. They couldn't care less that I was there.
Saw 7 bears that morning and after shooting one a huge boar came in, I was wishing I waited 30 mins more.

Really two moments for me. Old out of shape elk hunter wannta be ran out of gas on the way up the mountain. Ends up I was in the right place to kill my first and prolly last bull. Lucky you bet. Took a lot of years for that luck to show itself tho. Second moment was when walking with the horse straight up and again sucking wind bad I stopped and hung on to his neck and he just put is face against mine as if to say its okay ill wait. These are rented horses so I thought that was cool.
