Spent 9 days in a para tarp this year and need something with more room it's fine for a few days but not much room to stretch out. So my original plan was a Mega Tarp but then started looking at the 4 man Tipi if I got the mega tarp I would also get the annex. Also planning on a stove just wondering if it would be not enough room to move around with a stove in the mega tarp. Want to keep it kinda light also

I had a 4 man. I am 6-1 and I hated that I couldn't stand up in it. For light I have a Supertarp and Annex. For comfort I have an 8 man; no way I am going to carry the weight of the 4 man and not be able to stand up!

Can't speak for the 4 man, but I have both the para and mega and the mega is HUGE in comparison. Mega with annex will seem like a palace after spending 9 days under the para tarp, even with a stove.

Para and 6 man is what I run. Need to add a hilleberg and I won't need anymore shelters

Para for warm or short trips

6 man is the perfect 2 man shelter, or even one man if you wanted. And you can stand. And with a stove and liner the thing is amazing to come back to.

I agree with the above. I either go uncomfortable and light, or take a tipi you can stand and pay for the weight.

Have you looked at the sawtooth ? I'm typing from one now and I love it ! I'm 6'4" and. An stand if I hug the pole. It's a palace for one and roomy for two. I'm not rocking my stove this trip but have in the past and it' s sweet ! I've got to buy a ti oval and an emr II.

sawtooth if you cut your own pole in the field you have a shelter that is around 4lbs with the stakes (may even be lighter). Still lightweight enough and you get stand up room. That would be my recommendation. I had the 4 man like others said if you cant stand up in it why take the weight. Sawtooth you can stand in and move around a bit. Me and the wife fit comfortably with standard cots and stove in a sawtooth. Its an amazing shelter.

So it's feasible to carry a 4/6 man tipi and stove by yourself? I have considered one to go on family bp trips, and hunts but worried about space/weight.

My SL5 (floorless) and stove and stakes come in at 6lbs. I will look for the link tomorrow.

Yea I used to have a 6 man tipi. Perfect for 2-3 guys with gear. I would carry on solo trips as it was not too heavy to do.

Mega is fine for one guy plus stove and gear but it's tight and your always crawling around. If your willing to take a little extra weight is go sawtooth. I'm 6'3 and can stand next to the pole. The room is worth the weight IMO as long as your not going 10 miles in lol.

A lot of times the extra weight for a shelter is espeically worth it if you are going 10+ miles IMO. I have hauled my 10X20 GoLite SL-8 in a few times that far and its always nice to have a huge 10X10' space for 4 people to hangout in with gear, while still having a huge 10X10' area for people to sleep in as well. I have a Sawtooth on order as well. Should be a bomber setup as I have already seen what it can do on Kodiak in multiple days of 50 MPH+ winds. :)

Sawtooth only has front entrance but it is an AWESOME shelter! I've spent all elk season in mine thru crazy winds, pouring rain, and snow. 10/10:cool:

These aren't real informational photos, but I love the Sawtooth!
