I’ve heard a handful of good shooters that I trust recommend 7 SAUM. When I was looking at the mediums I figured a 300 WSM case was the perfect starting point due to Lapua brass, high quality sizing dies, and good case design. But it’s almost identical to 7 PRC performance. 7 Mega would give you a bit more case capacity but not Lapua brass. I’d decide where on the spectrum of ballistic performance and recoil you want to land and decide that way. Can’t go wrong in this case it seems

I'm sure they do but I only have experience with deer and hogs.

I really like my 7 saum with 180 hybrids. Mines in a short action but a medium would be better.

Little update. On this found a low round 7 SAUM barrel i will be running for now. If I burn it out or mess it up by adding freebore to the chamber then I will do something else. Need to do some research on coal on 7 saum in a medium with heavy bullets

Mines on a LA but I like the 180 hybrids with h1k n565 and 4831sc. The 180 eldms shot well for me too.

The one I have on a tikka was a 0.200” freebore reamer. A hair long for 180 hybrids but fine. Could be a hair longer if trying to maximize 180 ELDm. I’d use that reamer again without hesitation.

I want to say I end up around 3.1” coal with 180 hybrids and a modest jump.
