Jäger - Please post that info. I'd be interested too.

You said stags run up to 420 lbs, what would you say was the average weight of stags you've taken?

And rough breakdown percentagewise bow/gun ?

What is your favorite time of year to hunt them?

If you take one a month prior to the roar, are they more palatable?

Sorry about the rapid fire questions. Waiting on coffee pot before heading out to do some fly fishing.

No worries orionsbrother.

To average out a weight of the stags I have taken, would be looking at around 380 pounds.

Rifle bow wise, be looking at approx. 80/20.

Favourite time of year to hunt them, the rut is great fun, but hunting them anytime they are in hard antler really, always good, you just have to really rely on your skills as a hunter at these times though.

Yeah, if you take one a month prior to the roar they are lovely eating, nice and fat.

Thankyou Justin.

When I get a bit of spare time, I will post up the process for a hunter wanting to hunt Red stags DIY public land in NZ. Aust. is a bit more difficult for big stags.

If you are a keen trophy hunter, hunting the Red roar is a must, once someone has experienced it, they are hooked. I love seeing hunters successful, and more so if I have helped out in some way, especially if along for the hunt. Rule no1 though, YOU shoot it, YOU carry it. lol
Hi, curious if you ever did this process write up? Currently hoping to plan a DIY stag hunt in NZ
