Meat bags or contractor garbage bags?

Any opinions?
How much does the average contractor bag weigh? (I keep forgetting to weight one)

Meat bags:
Look cooler
Make weight stay vertical
Are another Kifaru thing, apparently I want everything I own to say kifaru on it these days
super light

Garbage Bags
Ultra cheap (in comparison)
Can be submerged
Can be used as a "tarp" for boning
I sit on mine when its wet or muddy
Can be used with bone in quarters if I decided to do that

It seems that the garbage bag is more versatile and works for everything a meat bag can do except it wont keep the meat vertical and is slightly heavier.

I will be using a DT1 with B.O.M.B. bags for the record.

I weighed a contractor garbage bag a while back and it was a whopping 6 oz., a lot heavier than I thought it would be.

The lighter lawn/garbage bags along with a Kifaru meat bag is a very versatile combination also.

I think your kinda comparing apples to orange's. you don't want to use garbage bags as your primary meat bag, you want to have them in your pack for cooling meat in a creek or lining your pack if you care about blood stains (I don't) the meat baggie from kifaru traps much much less heat than a heavy black plastic bag. what you really want is some BOMB bags for quarters, meat baggie for back straps/ tender loins and a contractor bag in the pack if you need to dump it all in a creek. and Olydog just go to home depot and by the most expensive ones they have, there going to be the thickest mill and tuffest for packing around and dragging out of creeks.

I mentioned in the original post that I am going to be using the bomb bags as a means of separating and cooling boned meat. I am talking lining the bag when I put it in the DT1. You may not care about blood, but I don't want a gallon of the stuff in my pack and all over my crap, maybe I am a baby hahaha.

I guess I wanted to get the meat bag from kifaru, but if I cannot justify the cost there is no reason to.

Come to think of it, the bomb bags will generally keep the meat from balling up at the bottom right? So maybe the only advantage to the meat baggie is that it is a bit lighter?

That is kind of what I am thinking.... I think I would feel naked without one in there since I have had them for years. So I would most likely end of with both... and be 50 bucks poorer haha.

I use compactor bags. They are getting harder to find since apparently the trash compactor is falling out of favor. If you go that way make sure you avoid the scented ones.

I don't recall honestly. I just checked every store we went into and bought two boxes when I finally found em.
