Everyone reading this- sell whatever you currently carry and get a Jennings Bryco because, whatever you have,

Also, since there's a chance that you can get food poisoning from any meal in the world, start hitting up gas station sushi on the reg
I was thinking more blunderbuss, but whatever you choose is fine with me. I'm really not the "judging" type.

I’ve read like 7 posts so excuse me if this has already been said...

But why does anyone care what anyone else makes or how they spend the money they do or don’t have? Take care of you and yours.

Everyone has different values and different earning potential. If I want something, I will wheel and deal until I have it. There is usually money out there to be made, and if there isn’t, there are other jobs and business ventures that will yield more income. I don’t always buy the top of the line, but I really try to avoid the situation where I feel my gear is preventing me from enjoying my day and being successful; or worse yet not going on a trip because my gear (clothing, optics, rifle, truck....) isn’t sufficient for what I want to do. Then I really spend some time evaluating my goals versus my gear, and maybe sell some old stuff, or hustle up some extra mattress money. Second guessing my gear is detrimental to my enjoyment, if you are happy and confident in the gear you have, it is sufficient. Buying the higher end equipment requires one to focus on the activities a person wants to pursue earnestly and which can be omitted or pursued recreationally.

One thing I always chuckle about in these threads is the but I don’t drive a $50k truck, have an Atv, camper etc... how about the $500k house. I have many friends very house poor that make a great living, they also have over $100k in vehicles etc etc.
$500k is a lot for a house? Spending a majority of income on a house? That's complicated. Is the house a good investment? Are you buying at the top of the market? How many thousands a month are you paying on HOA fees? If you can't afford to make the house payments and lose the house is bad. Generally, buying a house is a good thing. At least in San Diego, but not now, the prices are sky high and seemed to have leveled out. However, it sounds like San Diego prices are going to skyrocket? Huge housing shortage for sure. Hard to tell.

Your post got a grin out of me.

I make a decent living and have one muzzle loader, one breach action 35 Whelan so I can hunt primitive in certain areas without a muzzleloader, and one rifle. All could be bought (with the Leupold Scope) for $1200 or less. I like my rifles, but I like saving for retirement too. Most folks on here are average Joe's and make average money - but there are a few acceptations.

I care, because when a huge part of the younger society is doing real stupid things to hurt themselves and their family, it hurts the rest of society.

This is kinda like a thread about addiction. Spending much more than you should and making yourself vulnerable to or having serious financial difficulties.

This thread made me think about the last 25 years. Buy top gear before you get married.

"Once that pretty little doe starts dropping fawns, you're not going to have much money"

The best thing that I did was picking the right wife.

The biggest regret not having my swarovski's and kifaru pack sooner.

Yeah in the rest of the country away from either coast line $500k in a house (no land) is high, imo, remember here in KC that would equal probably $3 million in CA For the same home, maybe more. I looked at buying a home in Seattle and that lasted all of 5 mins, same income, way high cost of living.

What I was saying is people seem to judge wealth or crappy spending on vehicles and bad habits, some pay cash some don’t for these activities. In the end it doesn’t matter just live your life, sometimes this will mean living well below your income level, for others they’ll be up to their neck in debt, all in the same neighborhood, lol.

Personally I don’t care what others do, I’m not living their life. Also I don’t get how anyone in the middle class can afford to live in CA today with the housing costs, they are just crazy there and the income difference isn’t as high as one would think. My Ex wife’s aunt lives in Los Altos and it just shocked me what people paid for basic small homes.

This thread reminds me of the democratic debate... Everyone trying to "outleft" each other. Only difference is, lots of guys in this thread shoot, kill hunt with the most basic of rifle and the cheapest binoculars. Maybe it is jealousy by some members, maybe it is they simply do not make the same amount of money, I do not know what it is. The bottom line is, who gives a shit how much someone else spends on hunting gear? Most $500.00 rifles feel like piles of turds in my hands compared to more expensive rifles.. Enjoy your $200 Vortex binos, I will keep my Swaro's.

Most people's wealth is measured by the cars they drive in San Diego, by the majority of people.

I don't care either, so long as it doesn't affect me. However, as society goes belly up it's hard to swim out of the way. When the penguins start marching off the cliff I'm concerned.

That's real funny!! I took my daughter to Stanford a few months ago for a tour. She's a Sophomore and I wanted to show her what a great University is like, after visiting UC Irvine, UC San Diego, which are good and Caltech in Pasadena, which is excellent, but smaller and different. Stanford is $75k a year for tuition and board without financial aid. It would be a giant stretch for me to send her there. Extremely difficult to get into. A couple guys at work sent their kids their. It's a dream. Palo Alto, that's Silicon Valley, Gold Rush of technology. Lots of wealthy folks there!! The middle class the median family income is $150k and it's $53k in the US. The income difference is staggering for professionals like engineers. That's why I've never been able to leave California. Many start out on cracker box houses or condos are work their way up.

Haha $150K in Los Altos is like a $30K salary everywhere else 😂. Her aunt has been a real estate agent there for almost 40 years, just say they get the same % as every other agent across the country. She makes more then most CEO’s in mid to large sizes companies per year, its just silly.

We learned from the best. The “older” society caused the Great Recession/housing bubble burst with irresponsible spending. I don’t think it is generational based but an individual issue.

We never would have suffered through the housing bubble if the government hadn't blundered into the housing market, which used to function efficiently on its own. Politicians of both parties believed through government they could improve upon the market. Instead they made things far worse, by creating a bubble and then reacting by passing the disastrous and Unconstitutional Dodd-Frank law. Bada-be-bada-be that's all folks.
