MDT field stock experiences.

Just bought a Tikka 223 of eurooptic the other day and was looking at updating the stock to an MDT field stock as they're on sale on a few websites now. Anyone have any experience with these stocks and would you rather just get the oryx or no. This gun is gonna be for plinking, and some varmint hunting. So im not super concerned on weight.

I have none of them yet so take it how you want.

I would consider the XRS as well, its what ill be putting my savage in. I prefer the stock-esque aesthetics vs chassis so the Oryx is a no for me. A bit more weight in the XRS.

Also, im a lefty and the Field Stock is only available in the G1 Ruger American in Lefty.

The worst stock I have ever used. 4-5 people refused to shoot it after a couple mags of 308.


As I stated in another thread-

What made it poor shooting?

Forend is a noodle, grip is contoured poorly, comb is thin and sharp, toe is thin and hard to hold onto- overall probably the poorest shooting “modern stock” on the market.

In a heavy 308 the comb would bruise your cheek in sub 100 rounds. The grip is shaped Terribly and wants to roll, torque and move. The toe is so thin that legitimately controlling the back of the gun is difficult in lots of positions. The foreend is objectively about as stable as a Ruger American stock.
In less than a hundred rounds my only thought was “did they not have anyone shoot this design before selling it?”. And it wasn’t just me- 4-5 others despised it and had the same issues.

i appreciate this. I was worried with it being the "cheaper one" it would be garbage.
