I ended up living with the weight with my KRG X-Ray. Yeah, it's definitely heavier and uses AICS mags, but I love the adjustability.

What is the drawback to AICS mags? Pardon my ignorance.
The drawback depends on your intended use and rifle/bottom metal. With the McMillan and other other factory Tikka stocks, you can take advantage of the flush fitting plastic magazines - enabling you to hand carry it right underneath the action, not worry too much about inadvertantly dropping the mag, etc.

If you have a Rem700 pattern rifle, you can get flush fit mags and bottom metals from Hawkins, Curtis, etc. You just can't really gut flush fit on a number of Tikka chassis.

Ok. I only have 1 rifle with AICS mag and was hoping I hadn’t made a mistake. Sounds like they aren’t “bad”, more of a personal preference. Thanks.
