Have any of you guys ordered from Mcgowen. I placed an order back on December 5th and I know custom barrels can take a long time but it’s been almost 17 weeks and I haven’t heard a word from them and I’ve attempted to get in contact with them several times. Now their voicemail is full and I can’t leave a message. I’ve also emailed them countless times just requesting an update.

Normal. They are all over you before the sale then it's radio silence. It will show up one day, probably not what you ordered but it will shoot good.

Same boat.. Last McGowan I will order. I tried calling to ask a question, I think 4 times now. Left 3 vm's and 2 emails over the last 3 months. 0 responses. Ded to me after this barrel arrives

It might be overkill but I’ve probably sent 20 emails and called about that many times leaving voicemails and have never got a response.

I was going to order a McGowen for an UL-UL so had a few questions. Finally got a hold of Sam on the phone...once. Had a follow-up question and no more answers, no return calls, no emails...

Going to buy from X-Caliber. They answer emails.

The owner is aware, even acknowledged and mentioned it in a YouTube video announcing their new rifling method. He hopes to have a new CRM system implemented soon. Seems more of a staffing issue than efficiency issue to me...that is an outside looking in perspective. Carbon 6 has always been good to me but they have gotten slow and harder to get a hold of. I liked their barrels but lately have been sourcing barrels elsewhere, unfortunately. Last ones I ordered were 9 months to get and they had been running 3-4.

Yep. They will show up eventually with some ugly machine work, may or may not headspace correctly, but they always shoot great for me. So I generally roll the dice again every winter when they have a sale.

Im at 9 months for a C6 barrel. Met a c6 rep at an NRL and he's been helping push it thru. Should get it next week.

But anything mcgowen/c6 is slow until proven otherwise.

The new barrel process sounds really good though.

To be fair my barrel is unique. 25 creed 28". Not a normal blank

I’ve always had good luck with Mcgowen in terms of performance and they’ve generally been not too far off time wise. I’ve always tried to defend them a little, but the 2 I’m currently at 6 months waiting on, and complete lack of communication is probably the end of that.

Yeah I’m at 24 almost 25 weeks of wait time with zero communication. If I had received any word back I wouldn’t be frustrated. Even a simple we are backed up or are waiting on a shipment or are improving our facilities would be better than no response at all. An informed customer can deal with a lot more than one left in the dark. It truly feels as if they took the money and ran.

Ordered an AR15 barrel about 20 weeks ago...
Small consolation knowing that its not just me.
I emailed and called because I need to tell them that I will be moving soon, but it doesn't look like i'll be getting thru. I hope whoever buys my house enjoys their new barrel I guess.

I had to send one back because its wasn't even the correct tennon threads. Hard to have it shoot if you can't even screw it on the action.
