For the price I’d look at Preferred. My first barrel from them should be shipping real soon. When I asked for feedback before ordering, no one was unhappy

I wish I had bought my last barrel from them in lieu of McGowen

20" 6.5 creedmoor tikka lite with a flare for 5/8". If I could do it again I would have gone with preferred but this will work. The bead blast finish is strange not sure what they are using but never seen anything like it...1000008941.jpg

I just received my 7mm PRC barrel and everything looks really good. It was done ahead of schedule, a bit over 8 weeks. The fit and finish is much better than the last barrel I got from them about 3 years ago. They nailed my custom contour! 20" length and basically an .810 Taperless with the shank shortened up to 2" instead of 3". The weight came in a touch less than I expected as well, weighs 2 lbs 11.5 ozs. Overall, I am very pleased. I will also add that Sam was awesome to work with!

Looks great! I bit the bullet and took another chance on McGowen. I ordered a 6 creed barrel on black Friday, and it's already done. Hopefully it turns out as good as yours. Great idea on shortening the shank to save weight.

Yea it saves a decent amount of weight and looks better in my opinion being shorter and the transition isn't so abrupt down to the taperless section. This contour definitely turned out better than I had imagined!

Got to put a few rounds down the new 7PRC barrel today and I like what I see so far! A rainstorm moved in and started dumping so I didn't get any 5 or 10 shot groups in like I had planned but here are shots 4,5 and 6 with factory Precision Hunter ammo...

Took my mcgowen prefit out today got it up to 2670 with H4350 and it is a tack driver. The barrels are accurate, their QC on gunsmith is not great. After seeing how good this shoots this will not be the last one I buy. Especially when there is a sale and I want a caliber that I just want to screw around with... Maybe a 22 creedmoor...

Yea I’ve been wanting to do a 6CM for a while and might try and pick one up on the next sale that pops up. Pretty good value especially on a sale. I’ll see how this barrel does longer term but definitely starting off good.

6cm would be fun. Where I live 243 is minimum caliber maybe I'll go for that...

Yep, I am lacking anything in the 6mm department. Have an old Remington 788 243 from my grandpa which is a sweet shooting rifle but not anything I want to modify to shoot longer range with.

I recently received a 18" 6CM Tikka prefit. #2 Sporter, stainless with a belled end for 5/8 threads. 7 twist. Here's a 10 shot and a 9 shot group after one "sighter". 20rds so far. 115dtac and 43gr 4831sc that I already had loaded up for a different 6cm. 2705fpsimage_cropper_1738961307409.jpgimage_cropper_1738961551359.jpg

did you weigh it? was trying to figure out what their lightest contour would come in at for tikka and looking at the # 1 or #2. did they say one or the other was closer to the sporter when you ordered?

My cousin ordered the same barrel and it's sitting here uninstalled , I'll weigh it when I get a chance.

I will add another one. I bought a used 6.5-06AI from Justin Crossley off of the classifieds here. It is a 19", fluted, cerakoted, and threaded Tikka prefit from McGowan.

The bad: The chamber is a bit rough and a touch long, and as such, I do get clickers every once in a while and I have to be careful when fireforming.

The great: Here are two separate 5-shot groups with two different powder charges that I shot yesterday while doing load work-up. The flyer on the second group was me. These types of groups are not uncommon. I have yet to shoot anything over 1.25MOA while doing load workups. This is with 2 different bullets (143 ELDM and 140 TGK) with velocities from 2650 to 2825 fps.

I ordered online and never talked to anyone about contours, I just went off of their contour information. I'm happy with my decision but wonder what the lightest option would be?

Theres a #1 contour so I'd assume that'd be a little lighter but it might be limited on threading with that one. I don't need threading though. If you got 2 lbs 4 oz on an 18 inch 6cm barrel that sounds pretty close to the same proportion as the factory contour. They told me they could also do the preferred barrels Tikka hybrid light contour as a custom too if you wanted 5/8 threading. There's a whole hybrid light thread on here somewhere that has.m bunch of finishes weights posted.
