Different price range, but I'm sort of interested in the Kimber Adirondack in 6.5 Creedmoor @ 4lb 13 oz. If they had the mountain ascent in 6.5 Creedmoor with the longer barrel, I'd be all over it.
...maybe a true short action??
Absolutely. However, we aren't talking about the Montana. The whole point of this thread was Kimber's new rifle and how it compares (if it's competition) with a Tikka.
Yeah weight is not the sole criteria.
American made CRF action with 3 position safety. No plastic bolt parts. All in all a pretty good deal.
that "American made" seems to be a common axiom we all fall back on these days but aren't we generally comparing to China with this ? Finland has not popped up as a culprit in knock-offs are patent infringements that I've heard - I've flaired a time or two (and been chastised for it) in response to the use of "plastic", and I'll admit to readily questioning bolt shrouds, magazines and the like but have these "plastic" parts truly been vetted to prove their lack of toughness or quality ? I wasted $45 a couple of years back to prove a "whiskey" point on the Tikka magazines and won the bet (go ahead and try to destroy one ....) Again, I like Kimbers and I love the model 70 safety (actually, I love model 70's) but they don't cycle the WSM's worth beans nor do Kimbers near silently slip a round into the chamber - My point, if there really IS a point to be made, is that a lot of different actions and rifles offer differing selling or user features and we can "argue" the good and the bad features 'til the cows come in for milking .... Last November I had a good bull inside 200 yards and standing when my Kimber Montana 270 WSM jammed a round at the feed ramp ...... None of my Tikkas have EVER done that
Every American manufacturer has tripped over themselves trying to copy the Tikka T-3.....
Take your meds.
Tikka Schmikka, Kimber Schimber, I'll take my Legendary Arms Works 6.5 Creedmoor all day long and I don't have to do anything to it but put a Leica ERi 2.5-10 X 42 4A in Talley Lightweights and shoot and shoot! Bug holes all day long.
The price on the Kimber is very interesting and I don't mean to offend anyone but I find Tikka's on the ugly side. I guess it's a chocolate and vanilla thing!

Nothing like a $2,000 fixer upper that shoots almost as well a $650 Tikka.
