Maybe a little Tikka competition?

Different price range, but I'm sort of interested in the Kimber Adirondack in 6.5 Creedmoor @ 4lb 13 oz. If they had the mountain ascent in 6.5 Creedmoor with the longer barrel, I'd be all over it.

different folks are looking for different things continually - just another key component of "capitalism" ..... I am a huge fan of the Kimber Montana but I've yet to cycle any other factory built rifle that is as smooth or quiet as the Tikka T3 - as I stated earlier my '06 (chambering really don't matter I guess) superlight weighs 6lb 1.9oz with a metal bolt shroud, picatinny rail, gen 2 limbsaver and a fresh action bedding/pillars - typically you don't save that much with barrel fluting but that is plenty light enough for this old guy and the rifle balances perfectly, has a nice trigger and cost me $699 - Like I said, I like what Kimber does but I like what Tikka has done just as much ...... I wonder if the "new" Tikka will have a 3 function safety ?? top loading magazine ?? better factory recoil pad ??

Absolutely. However, we aren't talking about the Montana. The whole point of this thread was Kimber's new rifle and how it compares (if it's competition) with a Tikka.

Yeah weight is not the sole criteria.

American made CRF action with 3 position safety. No plastic bolt parts. All in all a pretty good deal.

that "American made" seems to be a common axiom we all fall back on these days but aren't we generally comparing to China with this ? Finland has not popped up as a culprit in knock-offs are patent infringements that I've heard - I've flaired a time or two (and been chastised for it) in response to the use of "plastic", and I'll admit to readily questioning bolt shrouds, magazines and the like but have these "plastic" parts truly been vetted to prove their lack of toughness or quality ? I wasted $45 a couple of years back to prove a "whiskey" point on the Tikka magazines and won the bet (go ahead and try to destroy one ....) Again, I like Kimbers and I love the model 70 safety (actually, I love model 70's) but they don't cycle the WSM's worth beans nor do Kimbers near silently slip a round into the chamber - My point, if there really IS a point to be made, is that a lot of different actions and rifles offer differing selling or user features and we can "argue" the good and the bad features 'til the cows come in for milking .... Last November I had a good bull inside 200 yards and standing when my Kimber Montana 270 WSM jammed a round at the feed ramp ...... None of my Tikkas have EVER done that

Every American manufacturer has tripped over themselves trying to copy the Tikka T-3.....

Tikka Schmikka, Kimber Schimber, I'll take my Legendary Arms Works 6.5 Creedmoor all day long and I don't have to do anything to it but put a Leica ERi 2.5-10 X 42 4A in Talley Lightweights and shoot and shoot! Bug holes all day long.

That's great and all but where can I get one for $650?

The price on the Kimber is very interesting and I don't mean to offend anyone but I find Tikka's on the ugly side. I guess it's a chocolate and vanilla thing!

Uh...nevermind

OR simply a taste thing .... and BTW, you can't touch a LAW for anywhere the cost of a Tikka T3 or for that matter a Kimber - OH, and have you read all about the accuracy problems the LAW's have been experiencing

they're a great looking rifle for a very competitive price IN THEIR CLASS - If I'm into driving GMC duramaxes I'm not gonna even be looking at 325 Beemers .....

It might actually come in a tad lighter than the posted weight as they sometimes do , such was the case with my buddies Montana it came in several ounces lighter than it was posted in, just a thought

No problems with accuracy with mine or two friends who have the LAW in 26 Nosler. I documented in an earlier thread that mine came thru with a bad trigger but even with the bad trigger it shot great for barely being broke in. When I sent it back they also rebedded the rifle and it shoots even better. I think the accuracy problem you speak of May have been a bedding problem which they addressed. My rifle was returned immediately after I sent it in. They could not have been nicer.

Nothing like a $2,000 fixer upper that shoots almost as well a $650 Tikka.

HECK ! I could have a matching set of superlights (that BOTH shoot lights out) AND a couple of VX 3i's and maybe STILL be in the black !

16Bore, you just made my day .... (as a side note, what's "better" IYO ? a Finnish rifle and American scope or an "American" rifle and a German scope ? - seems like point-counterpoint to me ...)
