Max Helical — Parachute Effect?

The study was an interesting read for sure. I’ve been following along since they came out with their “field day” posts on social media, and the original question came about from one of their initial podcast discussing initial findings and their observations. I even went as far as refletching half a dozen arrows with a 2deg helical. Unfortunately, in about two weeks worth of shooting for me, I couldn’t get the same group consistency with a fixed blade broadhead as I could with a max helical. Probably due to my shooting ability mostly. The study was looking at 450gr (ish) arrows at 288-292 fps in general, which is lighter and faster than my setup. I’d be interested to see a test with heavier, and even lighter, arrow weights. If I interpreted the study results correctly, a 3vane max helical had less drag than a 4vane in 2deg helical. That along with the relative “sound” and good lift characteristics of the max stealth vane, I’m pretty content with my current setup for this year (too late to change now). But I am thinking of building a 450-460gr arrow next year, should be around the same velocity as the study, and doing some more “diy” testing.
