Looking to install a can on my Tikka in 300 Win Mag. Wondering if anyone has some real world experience between these 2 cans to help tame recoil? From my research these are the 2 best cans that won’t add obscene length to the rifle. Which is 22 inches right now and trying to keep the rifle barrel under 30 total.

I know a dedicated muzzle break would be better for recoil but not trying to destroy my hearing when I’m out hunting. Plus I get out to the range once a week and just don’t wanna be the guy blasting myself and those around me.

Open to other suggestions outside these 2 as well. Just trying to make range days an enjoyable experience and also save what hearing I have left when I hunt.

I havent used the K but I have used the Magnus S RR and its pretty sweet! If you are looking for recoil reduction the Recoil X brake is a big improvement but it does make it louder. With that being said Recoil X also makes an end cap once you have their adapter on so you can have a louder/less recoil can and then put the solid end cap on for when you are hunting. This is how I have been running it this year and its worked well.

Would love to get the S but I think it might just make it a bit to unwieldy for me to hunt with. Read a lot of reviews on the S but unfortunately not to much on the K

The Maverick is not rated for magnums. It has very limited cartridge/barrel length restrictions. I think they are working on a more durable option that Francis Colon shot on 300 Norma at Nightforce ELR. But for now, TBAC would be your only option out of those two.

You should look at the Airlock 30, US Reaper, and AB Raptor 8 or 10. All of those will stay under your 30” maximum and do well on a .30 caliber magnum rifle.

I can’t provide real world experience with either.. paging @Lawnboi

The tbac rr reports aren’t that glowing without spending a bunch of money to replace the brake with recoil x g2.

I have a scythe and a nomad Xc with recoil x gen 1s on prs/nrl guns and they work well. A smaller can would allow even more recoil reduction probably.

Tons of options these days.. I’d look at the stealth additive works can with their 3D printed brake. The pending unknown suppressors NHS sounds effective but I wonder if there wouldn’t be more downward muzzle pressure than ideal with a light 300wm? Unknown reaper with srs brake is another that’s lighter than recoil x. Abel co makes some options too. This is an area of rapid development. Might not hurt to wait a little and see what else comes to market.

Well the maverick is not magnum rated, so that settles that.

I use a Magnus k rr for comp stuff. Not sure I would use it for a hunt, though it works really well on bigger cartridges. It’s still quieter than bare muzzle but it’s got some bite, I would want to wear ear pro. On a 3006, the difference between it and a regular Magnus is pretty big. But so is the noise.

I do have a recoil x comp brake to try on it this year and expect even more recoil control, and even more noise. But as I said I use mine on my comp rifles and that’s pretty much it.

To get big enough to justify a brake/suppressor on a magnum hunting gun and have it to the point where I would touch one off without earpro would likely be heavy and long.

If you don’t care about the noise, and just want it for the range, the Magnus k rr and recoil x comp brake seems to be a combo people like . The factory brake isn’t all tha terrible either, and if your used to firing that rifle bare muzzle, it’s going to be a 180 on the noise and recoil front.
