Maven vs Leupold

Maven R series vs leupold VX5.

Is a certain R series better. First or second focal plane.

Main use would be 3-500yards out to maybe 7-800.

I can get the for 300 cheaper then the vx5

Looking at the Rs.3 and rs.5 sfp.

Leuopold household name, maven I’ve never heard of or seen one.

Throw in another wrench I could get Zeiss V4 in the same price range or the trijicon tenmile

Maven is good stuff. I've heard they updated their glass as well. Can't go wrong with either.

I went with a Maven RS.1.2 on my new elk rifle and barely considered the leupold. These were my reasons.

Leupold: much more expensive for comparable models and have heard they’ve been having tracking issues in recent years.

Maven RS.1.2: Great quality scope with no major negative reviews that I could find, illuminated reticle, first focal plane, zero stop and they only sell directly so you don’t get the price markup from going through other outlets. Comparable scopes from leupold and any other company was about double the price and up. As far as I could tell, Maven seems to be the best bang for your buck. And it’s a damn good “bang”.
