I’ve been reading about the Maven RS1.2 and the Nightforce SHV 4-14x50 F1 quite and bit lately and understand the preferred hunting scope seems to be the RS1.2.

The scope will be mounted on a new Tikka T3X Stainless in 6.5 Prc which will mainly be used for elk and deer hunting in Western Colorado. With that said, I plan on occasionally going to Cameo to shoot some long range targets for fun.

I can get a brand new SHV for 30% off which ends up being around $900 whereas a new RS1.2 is $1200. In your opinion, do I save the cash and go with the SHV or spend the extra $300 on a new RS1.2?

Thank you all for the help and this site has been a wealth of knowledge for someone new like myself.

Maven offers discounts through GovX, I suspect you have access to it as well.

The maven has much better/more eye relief and seems to have a better fov with less tunneling, in my opinion. I'm no expert. I had an shv. I have rs1.2's.

The reticle should be your decision point. Weight, eye relief, are all non-factors.

Maven has a vortex style warranty - get a used one cheaper without worry. No receipts needed for warranty replacement.
