Maven RF.1 Rangefinder?

Based on my experience with the B2's I just placed my order for the RF1. Should be a good upgrade. It'll be nice to actually range animals farther than 400 :)

Hard to find any information on these rangefinders. I have a pair of their bino's and I love them. Hopefully this rangefinder does just as good

I have been using one for a few months. I like that it's a little bigger in size than a Leica or Sig. I thought the knob would get in the way too. But with the two pouches, I am using it seems to be fine. The knob does make it easy to move through the settings. The angle compensation matches my other rangefinders. The laser is strong and accurate when compared to my Leica RF and Zeiss RF binoculars. I hope they keep the same chassis when they make a ballistic rangefinder.

What two pouches have you been using?

Their case doesn't ride on a bino harness I do not believe, so I am curious of the same thing. My FHF is a snug a** fit.

In the video Ryan put out he showed it working well with the new sitka harness. He also mentioned it works fine in the front pouch of the AGC harness. If those options don't work for you, Marsupial Gear is building a pouch made specifically to fit this rangefinder but I don't know when it will be available.

I am told that the Outdoor Vision rangefinder pouch fits it nicely.

Any new first-hand reviews or feedback since last year? Curious how it performed in the field last year and how it compares to the Vortex Ranger line.

I have used it a few times a week at the archery range and it has withstood the abuse of my toddler toting it around the 3d course. I like it more and more each time I use it. It has been raining a lot in the evening here around Denver, and there was one day when my wife's Nikon Black4k was having trouble but the RF.1 was not. My complaint in the review about the button being too stiff has subsided since I have become used to it. I have found it easier to get in and out of the Marsupial pouch than the Black4k is in an FHF or AGC pouch.

It was passed around a few times at the archery club and some of thsoe groups had the Vortex rangefinder. I cannot remember anyone preferring the Vortex.

I ordered this over the weekend. Looking forward to getting some time with; I'm getting into hunting so I wont have any hunting reports for a bit, but it will get use for shooting steel in the desert as soon as it comes in (daytime and low light, out to 500-600 yards)

Is that a "when" not "if" situation? I played around with an RF.1 in the field and thought it was very impressive, but a ballistic model has me really intrigued.

It’s going to happen.

I’ve been testing a few rangefinder. The RF.1 is the strongest laser of the bunch. It will be awesome when it’s smart.

Very cool. Yea, what impressed me the most was just how consistently it would get good "hits" way, way out there. Within a few minutes it was on my "need to buy" list.

Gotta say I’m very pleased with mine. Honestly, this rangefinder is worth well over what they’re charging for it. If Maven does indeed add a ballistics engine to the RF1 at some point down the road, they will make a killing.

Where is it made?

From their site

We use premium Japanese components for S, B, and RS Series optics. The S Series and B Series are assembled in a military standard (MIL-SPEC) facility in San Diego, and are then shipped to our headquarters in Lander, Wyoming where we inspect and test for quality assurance. The RS Series is assembled in Japan, and the C Series are assembled in the Philippines. Once assembled, they are shipped to our headquarters where each batch is sample-tested for quality assurance

Because we sell direct to consumer, we’re not limited to the type of materials we can use. As a result, we use the best glass available in our optics. In our S, B, and RS Series optics, we utilize the best optical components available from Japan. In our C and CM Series, we use a combination of key Japanese components along with other optical elements from China, and the CS Series utilizes all Chinese components. In all of our optics we plan and build an overall optical system tuned to be the best performance available for the price
