Looking at making a purchase a used set of binos. These two have caught my eye based on prior discussions. Would there be a ton of difference in the 8x30 b3s vs 10x42 Tract Torics UHD in performance. I'll be treestand hunting whitetails in the midwest. Will be glassing fields out to 500-600 yards away at max. Curious your all thoughts on running the smaller objective lens vs the more standard objective. Thanks

Additionally, anybody have direct experience comparing the MeoPro Airs vs the Cabelas euro HDs?

For what it's worth I have a pair of the tract binos and I really like them. The glass is excellent, low light performance is very good. The warranty and service is great, had to use it because my three year old breaks everything. I would definitely buy them again.

I used to own the B3 8x30. I was regularly surprised by how good it was and kept wondering if I needed a bigger bino at all. Eventually, I sold them to help fund something else, but I was shocked at how good they were on a tripod, especially when you consider how small they were.

I have the 8x30 B3's and I don't see myself ever getting rid of them. They perform amazing for their size. IF you were hunting whitetails in the timber I would say go with them. But since you said you will be glassing fields I would personally like a 10x42. If you will be doing a mix of timber and fields, the b3's will work great. I find myself bringing them along on a lot of non-hunting activates due to their size. For what its worth, I have heard great things about those Tract Toric's.

Isn't this kind of an apples to oranges comparison?

Just in regards to the size and magnification differences I think you need to ask yourself what you are looking for in a bino. Lightweight/compact/FOV (8x30) or a happy medium one size fits all (10x42)

I've never looked through the Tract but I did own a set of B3 10x30. I loved the weight of the B3 for my backpack hunts, but where I hunted last year the 10x zoom felt way too zoomed in and had to pan around way more than I felt necessary. I ended up switching to some 8x32 on my chest and am currently loving the FOV.

Hi,
I am new here. I am considering getting an 8x42 TRACT. What did you end up buying? Thx

Ended up getting a pair of Meopta MeoPro Airs on the classifieds of Archery Talk. pretty good glass to my eye and the price was right.

Thank you for the reply. I never heard about Meopta until about few months ago. I should probably spend more time and try to find a store with a good selection of various brands. This forum has a ton of information.

I know this is an old post but since I have both the aforementioned by nose I will say they're each equally good at what they do. As you mentioned it is more of an apples to oranges comparison. If I only had to keep one pair it would have been the Maven B3. I did keep both and the tracked are my truck glass for when I'm driving around and want to take a closer look at something. They're not as good last night as my Maven b3s or SLCs but they are crisp optics that leave nothing to be desired for me during all but the first and last 10 minutes of light.

Thank you for everyone's replies. I'll be keeping a close eye on pre-owned TRACT and Maven. I am very curious to try some Meoptas now.
