I bought this rifle by accident on GunBroker a couple of months ago. I put in a bid that I thought was ridiculously low and no one outbid me. When I purchased it, it had an old, nice Redfield 6-24x scope on it. I sold that for a decent price on GunBroker. Since then, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with it. I already have one .22-250 that is a near match for this one and I don’t need a pair of them. I was thinking that if it turned out the barrel was shot out, I could get JES to rebore it and cut it down and thread it. I don’t own a bore scope, but things looked fine through my old military surplus chamber mirror thingy.
Yesterday, I mounted an SWFA 12x scope on it and took it to the range. I used the cheapest factory .22-250 I could get (S&B 55-grain SP). I didn’t try any other ammo. I just wanted to have a reasonable idea of whether the lede was shot out. I am sure that with reloads she could do far better.
Last group of the day finishing off the box of ammo.
Second to last group of the day. I made a correction between these two groups.
Worst group of the day (I pulled the far right shot a bit):
There’s no doubt in my mind that with reloads this could be a proper varmint killer. I assume it has a 1:12” twist barrel, but I have not measured it due to leaving my cleaning rod at the farm. Barrel is 24” long. Total weight in current configuration is 11#. Two-stage trigger is firm, but crisp (could use a little love).
More pictures available upon request. If you are interested, please PM me and I will be happy to do a FaceTime caller let you look it over more closely.
Asking $800 to your FFL’s door for rifle, scope, and 30mm rings.
Asking $500 to your FFL’s door for rifle and scope base mount.
Willing to consider partial trade if it includes an SWFA UL scope.
