Been wanting to try the new comfort ‘Z’ mod on my new Arc 34 but didn’t want to sacrifice up to 10 fps to do so.

Instead I bought the next mod up by five pounds just to try it.

It is definitely much smoother and I don’t notice the increased draw weight. The slide into the valley is much more gentle and the wall feels the same. Plus instead of sacrificing speed, I gained 4 fps. Will be a bit more once the new strings come in as the “match” strings only match the old zebras.

If you are on the fence about trying it for the reason I was, maybe do what I did. I’m keeping it on.

Just ordered one for my Lift X at 80 pounds should be here Monday… I turned my bow down from 80 to like 77 pounds cause I when I went to draw my bow back from the saddle it was harder then it should be still got it back and killed the deer at 40 yards but that pissed me off lol so hoping this mod will help out since I have not been shooting as much the last few months just been to busy with work…

I can relate. Crazy how fast you lose that draw strength. I had been too busy as well and I can feel it.

I noticed Mathews has these back in stock after reading this thread so I ordered some for my lift x. Will be interesting to see how much it changes things.

I think it’s great they made these to fit previous models. Make sure and post up. I’d be interested to know how they do.

I will post up my two cents on the draw feel. I’ll also chrono both but I ordered z mods 5 pounds heavier and most likely won’t turn the limbs down to get the same draw weight.

My local shop had some in 70lbs only. I put them on my lift X 29.5. I was previously shooting it at 65lbs with SWX 85% mods. The 70lbs Z mods feel almost the same as the 65lb overall. The front of the 70lb Z mod is a little stiffer than the 65lb SWX (but that's because of the increase in lbs I believe), but the back roll over is gentler. I think I could probably stretch it to 75lbs Z mod, but they didn't have any in stock at the time I purchased. That back roll over is nicer and I'm able to control it much better.

I don't have a chrono so I can't compare the two speeds.

That's exactly my experience with the ARC 34. Took me a while to figure out what the difference was. The ARC was sending a little jolt of pain in my left elbow when it would roll over and hit the wall. But I figured out that the valley/wall is such a better transition. The draw, like you said, feels about the same but at 5 pounds heavier.

I like it. Maybe after shooting it this way for a while I will grab a heavier mod too and see how that feels.

How do these mods compare with the standard mods when it comes to arrow spine?

For example I use a 300 spine for SWX 70# mods… any chance using the Z mods will allow me to go the 340 spine??

I have always used archers advantage and not sure if those programs take new mods into account?

I wouldn't think so. Not sure what the ATA comes up to but it is still 70 pounds. Just a much smoother process. You could probably go to the arrow manufacturers site that you use and calculate to see if they would work for you. Or if you are able to cut your arrow shorter you may be able to move to a lighter spine. I personally always go one spine stiffer though. They tune better and take a shorter time to recover after the shot.

Assuming the same draw weight on the Z mod, it would be interesting to knock your speed down 8 or 10 fps on your setup in archers advantage and see what the program says for spine. My simple way of thinking would lead me to believe that spine is driven by the acceleration put into it to get to a certain velocity, so slower fps should be okay with a weaker spine.

That's kind of what I am thinking... maybe the Z mod effectively reduces the IBO speed?

Regardless, I'd like to get a set and try them out.
