What the hell are the folks over at mathews thinking with this one?
5 inch brace height; upto 355fps and coming in at 5 lbs 6 oz? Yes you read that right almost 5-1/2 lbs naked!

First a round wheel bow and now a speed bow that wieghts about the as a tank with a 5 inch brace height all for the bargain price of $1700!
All they are missing is a stock built in overdraw and steel Cabless.

Are they purposely trying too go out of business ?

I'd like to shoot the no-cam, but that Wake looks like a big fat dud. The only way it even seems usable is I guess in a blind you drive to, even then, who wants a 5" brace?

Mathews has seriously lost its way.

I read a comment on another site about how smooth and dead in the hand the two cam no-cam is, and someone responded that by turning your current bow down 10# you could get the same smoothness and dead in the hand feeling - and speed. ;-)

That rise design has shades on the new Hoyts.

I was skeptical of the no-cam bow too. On paper it doesn't impress. After I shot it, I actually changed my mind. The bow was smooth, plenty fast and dead in the hand. With that said, I will not be selling my monster chill to get a no-cam, but it is a much better bow than what most think.

The "wake" is bad on paper, and I am sure bad in person.

They are going through something... I live about 1.5 hrs from their plant in WI. They let about 200 people (if I am remembering the number right, but was a significant number of people) go several months ago. I think the smaller companies are producing just as good or better bows, and in less numbers so the quality is better.

Ok first of all the Wake is not being advertised as a hunting bow. The price will NOT be $1700. That's just the MSRP. The actual selling price will be around $1499 which is steep but not out of line when comparing it with other target bows. You'll see a lot of their 3D pros shooting this bow. I know one personally who won the IBO Worlds using an MR5. That's the market they are trying to reach with this bow not the hunting crowd.

As far as the No Cam goes the bow is legit. Is it fast? No. That's not what it's designed to be. It's designed to be accurate and it is that. It's such a breeze to tune. The bow has the most level vertical and lateral nock travel of any bow I have ever tuned. It is also by far the quietest bow out on the market in my opinion. You feel nothing on the shot also. People can call it an old wheel bow all they want but its far from that. They thought outside the box on this and hit their mark and put out a phenomenal bow.

Shot the no cam and it was hands down the quietest bow I've ever shot. It was so dead in the hand that it didn't feel real. That being said, I didn't like the draw cycle on it much at all.
