I bought a new Mathews vertix last year and really like the bow, but I pull random shots to the right. Usually 4” at 20 yds. I’m shooting 29” draw and 70 lbs with 300 spine gold tip xts.

previous two bows were elite energy 32 and Mathews outback. I’ve never had this issue before, so wondering if anyone else has had this problem??? Thanks

Number your arrows and see if it's the same arrow. If it is start turning your nock to the next vane until it comes back into the group.

A couple other thoughts...

Compare how tightly or loosely your nocks fit on the center serving. Could be one arrow getting hung up on the string just a touch more than the others.

If it's always one shot out of a group and it's always to the right it makes me think it's a problem with that arrow more than anything else. Is it consistently the last shot fired? Middle of the group shot? First shot?, etc...something should begin to stand out that is different from the others. just have to watch out for any minor differences.

Numbering the arrows is a good suggestion.

Are you shooting groups of three? Does it tend to be the last arrow? Which hand do you shoot with/are you a lefty by some chance, if so you could be peeking.

Don't rule yourself out as the problem I usually look to myself first

I’m right handed. Shooting groups of three but at a 5 dot bag.

I’ll number the arrows and report back. I’m assuming it is me somehow, just never had the issue before. I thought my grip could be inconsistent. I’ll check nock tightness too.

I went out and shot last night. I numbered 4 arrows and shot. It wasn’t the same arrow, I think I have some inconsistency in my grip. With my old elite 32, the grip had more of a forward angle and I used more of my hand and palm. With the vertix the grip is more vertical. If I grip like I did with my old bow, I’m more inconsistent. I need to shoot with my hand wide open and the bow buried between the thumb and index finger with my palm down. I may look into an aftermarket grip that i can get a little more consistent with.

If you are pulling through with a handheld release it could also be inconsistency in rear elbow/pulling angle. I know it makes a difference for me.

It sounds like you could be torquing the bow with your grip. Really focus on a consistent grip and see if it makes a difference.

I just switched to Mathews this year with the VXR. I was having random high lefts. The engage grip being rounded was giving me issues with torqueing. I was coming from using a Hoyt Carbon Defiant and RX1 Turbo with the xact grip, which has a flat area on the back. That feel took me a while to get used to on the engage grip.

So I ordered a couple Ultraview BeeReal grips because they are flat on the back with a 5 degree angle, thinking theyd solve the problem. Well they took a while to ship, in the meantime I put a sidebar on the VXR, got more consistent with the engage and when the BeeReal grips come in, Ill be selling them as Ive started to really like the stock engage.

But the things Id look at are in order: (I like to go in order of things that can be mechanically fixed before things I have to coach out of myself)

Nock fit. If some are harder/easier to clip on the string, could be those. If you are using a short AtA bow with a long draw (or any ata on any draw - typically more pronounced on longer draw/shorter ata), check for nock pinch.

Vane contact with rest - number your arrows, the right fliers, check for marks on the vanes (usually a black line). If those are hitting and the other aren't, check to see how the vane/nock orientation is on the ones that aren't hitting, and twist the nock on the ones that are in order to match the ones that don't contact. Sometimes barely twisting a nock can give you the clearance you need without having to adjust and retune a bow.

Arrows that simply aren't straight, spin test them.

Grip pressure/torque

Trigger punching/anticipation

Good luck...
