Mathews 2018

I went to my local shop several weeks ago. I am a bowtech guy. I shot all the flagship bows, Realm, RW-1, Triax, Ritual, PSE. The Triax, to my dismay, was clearly the winner for me. I am 6'3 with a 30" draw length. It felt really good. No hand vibration at all. I have an Insanity that I am not ready to retire yet. But if I was I would buy a Triax.

I'm graduating this spring (college) and my dad offered to buy me a new bow as a graduation gift. I was still using my 2004 Mathews outback (14 years old) and wouldn't be able to afford a new bow for a while still, so saying I was excited is an understatement. He told me to pick out whatever I wanted and that he would get it completely set up for me. I picked the new Triax in the UA forest camo. I've only had it for two weeks but it's incredible. A lot has happened in the last 14 years of bow technology. Thanks Dad!

Put my hands on one the other day. Was pretty impressed. I was a little worried about the short ATA, but it really wasn't an issue. Of course, I have been shooting a 31" ATA bow for 10 years, so I am used to shorter bows. The Triax was pretty smooth, very little vibration and quiet. All that being said, wasn't impressed enough to drop a $1G on a new bow. In the end, I just didn't find it (or any other bow for that matter) to be significantly better than my 12 year old bow I am shooting now. I'd rather spend my money on tags than on new equipment, but that's just me.
