Manners EH2 question

Going to order tomorrow. I know it’s going to be a wait.. I’m in no rush.
Wanting to shed some weight from the current bell and Carlson on a rem700

I have a picatinny (atlas) rail on bottom of my coyote build and like a lot. But in goal of shedding weight .. think I’m just going to do 3 swivel studs.
Main purpose is 500-750 yard elk, mule deer gun.
If I ever get the funds for sheep .. will probably be my squeeze for it

Thoughts?

I say go for the pic. Doubt you'd ever notice the difference. One stud, and a rail vs a couple studs, there's likely a negligible difference in weight.

Spec the front studs out to fit a rail, distance apart wise. The t nuts they install are 10/32 threaded and you can swap back and forth from studs to rail if you see fit.

Make sure you tell them where you want the front studs though, if you don’t they will tap it for a Harris bipod up front leaving quite a tab between the front stud and the foreend

All my manners get two studs in front and 2 flush cups on left side.
Atlas rail works perfect. No need to dictate distance between studs when ordering if using atlas rail with slot.

I’ve owned a couple EH-2’s. Honestly, you should go with the EH-1 or LRH. The Monte Carlo rear of the EH-2 makes you work more to control recoil, the swept grip makes you work more for consistent trigger control. The EH-1 or LRH are better stocks.

As far as accessories go, a pic rail up front will let you choose a good bipod, and will weigh basically nothing - especially compared to 3 studs with the required hardware. All my stocks now have flush cups on the left side (I’m right handed). You should also get a small arca rail near the mag well, which will only weigh about 1.5 oz (LRH already has this). If you’re not shooting from a tripod, you’re wrong 🤣🤔
Totally agree with the above. Exact spec Iv given all my manners. The good news is once the front is drilled and t nuts are installed you can remove pieces as you see fit. Those t nuts will take screw for a rail, a sling stud or whatever, worth it to have them installed at the factory, not that doing it yourself is hard, but I do cringe every time I half ass a hole into a thousand dollar stock.

3rd on this.

My first custom got a manners EH-3 and i absolutely hated the grip, way too far back from the trigger to where it's useless while shooting. I thought the SL looked a little better so I got one of those for it. This was early in my journey and I still bought into the classic sporter benefits, trimmer for carrying, nicer for "off hand" shooting etc. While the EH-2 is probably a step in the right direction from my SL, the perceived benefits of the traditional sporter shapes are mostly BS (other than being trim for carrying in hand) and I should have just gotten a EH-1 like my buddy at GAP advised me to when I built it in 2014.

The trigger control can be mitigated by using a trigger with a flat shoe. I have the manners MCS-T and the grip and palm swell are identical to the EH2. For my size hands, flat shoe is the way to go IMO.
