My job is a little different in the fact we have to pick our vacation the last couple months of the current year for the upcoming year. Rotating swing shift type schedule is why I guess. Anyhow, what do you guys think of these dates? I'd think it'd be best to be out there for the opener but that may not be possible since a coworker/buddy of mine is planning to go as well. It's hard for both of our schedules to coordinate to plan a trip like this.

We both may be able to have off Sept. 22nd - Oct. 5th together. If for some reason he can't go, I could also be off Sept 1st - Sept 14th. I just NOW realized that the season dates for 2015 are more than likely going to be August 29th 2015 - Sept 27th. Last Saturday of August until last Sunday in Sept. So if that's the case, we won't have enough time the Sept 22nd - Oct. 5th time period especially if we were planning on driving from Virginia. So might have to back up and punt.

Anything I may be missing here?

Temporarily off the radar!
Go when u can. Certain dates my be better than others but it's all a gamble when it comes to Mother Nature! We went the 10th thru the 24th this year and it was pretty warm and not much calling going on. Area gets hit pretty hard as well so it was tough hunting. But we had a blast which is what is all about in the end! We learned a lot about the area and have some spots to go to next year.

I guess I was thinking the sooner the better due to lack of hunting pressure.

Anytime the season is open is a good time to hunt. It is easier to call in bigger bulls early in the season, but bulls usually bugle more later in the season. Moon phase means nothing to me.
