Maine Moose Lottery

I grew up in Maine but live in Florida. My brother still lives in Maine. We started to apply 15 years ago. He got a tag 5 years ago and we go a 38" bull. I was buying 10 tries a year and got a tag last year and we got a 55" Bull that was an inch shy of B&C. Fun times.

Has anyone here won a non-resident moose tag? If so, how many years did you apply, and how many chances did you buy when you won? I'm looking to hunt moose within the next 10-15 years, and I'm not sure if I should continue applying in Maine or move to a state out west. I plan on buying 50 chances a year, as it's still cheaper than applying in most other places. Also has anyone found information on the amount of chances bought culmunitivliy from non-residents? Thanks!
There is 99.5% chance you will never draw a moose tag even if you move west.

If anyone really wants to hunt moose it’s a no brainer to just go book a hunt, or figure out how to DIY in Alaska.

Realistically you will never beat the cost effectiveness of a cheap Canada moose. For $5000- $6000 all day long you can book in Newfoundland or Alberta and 80%+ kill a moose.

No way you can DIY for less if you have to travel out of state and even living in AK it costs that much for transportation etc to successful moose areas

Trophy 50”+ moose guided hunts are a different story, but you will never get that big of moose in Maine anyway

Not trying to argue with u at all, but where is a reputable outfitter for 5-6k in Alberta or even Newfoundland? I’ve been doing some research and Alberta is higher but it’s even hard to find a decent place in Newfoundland for that. Again, not saying yer wrong but I’m all ears.
