I’ve been using the MagView system for a few years. Has worked great. Recently just got a new iPhone and can’t get the MagView app to work. I can’t seem to take a pic or video? Any ideas of how to get it to work

MV had the same problem back in the fall of 2023 when the iPhone 15 replaced the 14. At that time ii was a problem with their app not selecting the right lens. There's a good chance it's a problem like that again as the lens placement on the 17's is different than the 16's. I ended up using the PhoneScope app as MV's "work around" was a complete flop. It took them almost four months to get the app updated that time so hopefully they'll be better this go around. If I still had my MV stuff I'd try it with the PhoneSkope app for you. I have converted to Kapture but still use PhoneSkope. I would suggest you email MV and see what's going on.

You can also change the native camera app so that the lens does not auto change.
Not quite as easy to align but just keep the light in the center of the screen as you bring the phone to the magnet.

If you tick these settings on an iphone it will prevent it from auto switching to macro lens and give you the option to change manually. And the preserve settings will keep the camera on the last setting you used when you launch the camera app again.

Camera -> Tick Macro Control
Camera -> Preserve settings -> Tick Macro control

That is how I do it on the iPhone without using the app.

You might also try the Final cut pro camera app - it will give you a lot of manual control, including which lens,

Magview has confirmed it’s a software issue and they’re working on it. In the meantime if you just use your camera app in portrait mode it’ll work just fine for photos. Solution forthcoming.
