Curious if anyone here has tried one of these.

LuxuryLite Cot Tent

I've got a couple of the cots and really like them. I used the 24" model last weekend elk hunting using only four cross bows and it was darned light. Adding this tent to it seems like it could save a lot of weight for summer type weather. It certainly wouldn't hold up to a downpour or strong winds in the open but it seems it could work in the trees or other sheltered areas.

I found one on Amazon for $125. That's cheaper than the bug shelter and this includes the bug shelter and a fly.

The only thing I like about taller cots is ease of getting on and off and being able to easily put your boots on. A light chair solves the second one. You really can't beat these for the weight and comfort.

parshal, would you mind sharing the link from Amazon with me?

I've considered these cots and the tent makes them much more interesting to me.

Thanks,
Jeff

It is certainly a small space. But, including the cot it's less than half the weight of my Cimarron. I'd bring my Cimarron and the cot which is even more. I doubt I'd use this for more than two nights or when rain is in the forecast. If longer or rain is in the forecast the Cimarron and stove are coming along.

Says 2 lbs. 12 oz. online. Haven't got one in hand to actually weigh it.

I received the L/XL cot tent today. Even though it's for the 26-30" LuxuryLite cot I set it up with my 24" cot. There's a little loose fabric on the floor (where you lay) but it works just fine. I weighed it including all the stuff sacks, four tent pegs (came with the tent), poles (they include an emergency pole piece for a broken pole as well) and the cot with eight feet and enough bow poles to have one twist bow (I'm 175 lbs. and can use four single bows). It all weighs 5 lbs. 4.5 oz. I'm sure it could be brought down to under 5 lbs. by removing the sacks, emergency repair pole and lighter pegs. The 26" cot weighs 3-4 oz. more depending on the number of bow poles you bring.

I'll throw my Cimarron on the scale with the pole and pegs and see what that weighs. I'm gonna guess that I might save a pound or two in total with the cot tent over the Cimarron. I'll report back that weight.

The Cimarron weighs 4 lbs. 4 oz. with carbon pole and carbon pegs. The cot weighs 2 lbs. 4 oz. So, I'd save a little over a pound taking the cot tent. That's not much weight difference for the increase in space of using the Cimarron. I usually pull my pack into the tent with me and that can't be done with the cot tent. I think the two advantages of the cot tent (other than weight) are ease of setup and a smaller area needed for setting it up.

Interesting.
Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like the cot & tent would be best when you simply need a dry & comfortable place to sleep with weight not being a biggie, like maybe a road trip on the Harley.

Yeah, or a quick overnight where you're not sure of available sites for a larger tent.
