Hey folks.

I’m looking at a new tipi tent with a stove for my northern BC hunt. I came across a few types but I’m slowly settling on a luxe megahorn. Has anyone had any positive and or negative experiences with these tipis and this brand? If so shoot me your pro’s and con’s
Any bits of info would be great

I have a Megahorn and have had good experience with it set up for one entire month last season. However, there is a current thread in the gear section you should read.

I just picked up the Megahorn and the Half-Hex 1.5P inner tent. I would recommend you seam seal it. Took me a good part of a day to do mine but it'll be worth it come mid late season hunts. Planning to do a little overnight trip nearby and also do a first burn on my SO SXL stove.

Awesome when you get a chance after you take it for a run would you send me a post on how you like it. I have been doing a ton of reading and it kinda seems that people Seem to be just recommending seek outdoors tents instead. Seems to all come down to warranty. But.. at the price and if I have to spend a day sealing the seems it may be worth the purchase of a luxe tent.
any feedback would rock.
cheers.

I used a mega horn for a season. It worked for my needs. If i were to buy another Luxe, I would go with the Octopeak, It will save you a few pounds overall. They are made out of different material also. The mega horn is a sil-poly and the Octopeak is made out of sil-nylon. Advantages and disadvantages to both. There is nothing wrong with either. After using a Seek outside though, I wouldn't go back to a Luxe.

thanks for the response. whats making the seek standout for you?

Great company! USA made vs Asia for Luxe. I also have a couple of SO packs. A buddy of mine turned me on to them. We used a Cimarron for a few years. Quality is amazing. I have a Silex for solo hunts and scouting/backpacking trips. Kevin keeps teasing us about a 2 person type Silex that I'm waiting to get for when my son goes with on trips. Ask on here if anyone in your area has a SO tent so you can check it out. And try the same for a Luxe tent. Either one would work for you I'm sure. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion based on my experiences.YMMV

You bet. I'll post my feedback on the Megahorn once I get it out to the field. Most likely first good weekend in May.

Luxe is a terrible company that refuses to honor their 1 year warranty. I was 14 miles from a trailhead in a wind storm when stiitching tore on the snow skirt of my octopeak tipi. That allowed wind to enter the tipi, causing a collapse. Many contents inside blew out, including a sleeping bag and two sleeping pads. The sleeping pads punctured, but luckily it didn't get cold enough that we depended on them to keep warm. Consequences could have been devastating if rain was thrown into the fray. If you take trips into the backcountry and depend on a shelter for your safety, I wouldn't go with Luxe.
