I would imagine waterproof & high temps don't mix all that well.

Arizona guys probably thinking "why waste time on waterproof"?

Water, what is that?

I have a basic prototype that uses silicone sheets, felt, and some silicone tape. I will have it done to send out to some of my testers for feedback.

It will be a little heavier because of the silicone, not sure how many will want it. I feel like maybe a “shoot through” condom type waterproof cover will be lighter and more sensible.

It’s a tricky problem to solve.

Do you see POI shift when removing? Aka a back country hunt with a snow storm rolling in? Or would you just ride it out and let it be wet... Particularly with non rusting Ti cans?

The cover is 0.5 ounces. I haven’t seen a shift in the dozen or so cans it was on.

If wet, that’s another story. If it’s raining, I would have a plan to keep this particular cover dry along with my entire rifle.

I have an ultralight rifle cover I use, but haven’t released. I am also working on a suppressor cover to go with out Ultralight Scoped Action Armor.

I wouldn't worry about making a 0.5-1.0 oz cover waterproof. Mine is carbon felt and vet wrap, weighs in the 0.75-1.0oz neighborhood, and I get no zero shift when removing the cover.

Since it's mainly for mirage, I just take the cover off when hunting so I don't have to worry about waterproofing. I wanted to leave it on to protect it from dings or damaging it if I fall on rocks, but that's a lower probability than a shifting zero from a soaked cover.

I’m glad you said that I was wondering the same thing. If it’s raining enough to soak it I’ll just take it off. Like you said it’s mostly for mirage and unless I’m hunting if it starts raining that much I’ll put everything up till it passes or just go home. Most of the time I’m just a mile or two from home when practicing.

So far, it’s only been the Scythe. I have adjusted the pattern and all getting sent out today forward should be good.

The XC cover is pretty snug but got it on.

Havnt seen many pics of them on rifles so here is a few mounted. My overall thoughts:

It was tight but not too tight. Definitely dont think it will move. Material seems good. Really light weight.

Couple things I'm not thrilled about and idk if this is by design or not. It is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch longer that it needs to be which in my opinion makes it kinda look sloppy. Hopefully the pics portray what I'm talking about.

Mine came in last night and it's similar. Not a big deal to me and I'm not going to bother them about it, the price/weight is right, fit is functional and I'm looking forward to using it.

We will dial in the lengths a little better. I grouped some suppressors based on the lengths.

Generally:

The cover will stretch more than necessary. If you push it “back together” you can take out additional slack without it bunching. And, because of the tension it normally stays in place.

It does hang over some in the back because of the stitching to hold it.

And, it can hang over the edge of a suppressor a little without a brake.

Mine is a TBAC Ultra 7 and could be a little shorter/tighter at the rear. Just a heads up if you plan to revise them going forward, I don't want a replacement but that's a standup move.

I prefer the way it is. On all the covers I’ve had if they didn’t go past the rear of the suppressor they don’t mitigate mirage nearly as well as covers that go past the back.
