LR Rookie's Race to 1000

I wasn't nutz about it. I struggled a bit with this one and the Atlas's at this event. There was a lot of movement going on. I prefer a bipod with a real pod lock that I can tighten down solid easily. I would not recommend either of these for larger rifles with real recoil. However with a solid grip I was able to spot my hits even from a less desirable shooting position. I believe being solid on target is very important. I haven't found a bipod yet that will even come close to the stability of the Modular Evolution. But I suppose there are lighter offerings, if weight is that high on the list, and we are willing to sacrifice stability for a few ounces.

We ended our shooting time with a repel and shoot. Obviously not very practical but it was a TON of fun!! Had to borrow the instructor’s rifle since mine didn’t have a sling. Even with the crazy angle and horrible body position, the Spartan equipment was good enough to compensate.

It was a lot of fun, but I honestly shake more when I see a big moss back Muley buck than when I was repelling down that rock

Broz, there was a guy there with a gas gun. Iain Harrison from recoil magazine. He shot LIGHTS OUT with that thing... amazing. I had no idea. He explained how they work. Looked like a pretty comfy gun to shoot.
At the zero range he was .3 MOA with all 3 bullets touching. He basically dominated everything. And of course... he hammered the “deer” on the robot.

Howard....I read a lot of schitt on the internet. Very well written. I have personally shot in matches against many that have posted here. I've shot in a local match with a Ruger Predator in 6.5 Creed and made it into the top 1/3rd at the end of the shoot. Most, if not all, run rigs that cost several thousand dollars. It's very uplifting to read a report of someone showing that, within reason, the Blue Collar dude can get it done, on the semi cheap, to a very real hunting/harvesting/ethical distance. And might be able to do that without being fueled by Mtn Ops vaginal tightener, a flat brim trucker hat, a Schmidt and Bender, a Proof barrel, or a diesel pick up with $9000 in Alligator Performance parts.

That's right. It probably isn't what you're "supposed" to do, but I wanted to see if I could trust the numbers from the App. Turns out, they're spot on!

At 50 yards, the fancy scope and bi-pod weren't necessary, but it was still nice to know that my little man had the best tools I could give him to get the job done. Great memories!

I picked up a Tikka 3x lite in 6.5 CM, Extreme Hardcore rail with built in level, and a leupold VX 3i 4.5-14 scope. Haven’t mounted the scope yet. Just picked up the rifle yesterday. Bought it from locked and loaded. $480 shipped.
