I'm wanting to install a Picatinny rail on my 28 Nosler with Rem 700 action. Who makes the lowest rail that is made from steel or alloy?

It's been a few years but I recall Seekins and Murphy precision being on the low side.

i vaguely remember EGW gunworks having something low profile, but i dont think they get lower than the leupold 1 piece like on the M24. thats the only base ive seen to get a 40mm leupold anywhere NEAR the barrel.

im guessing you have a 40mm obj?

thats the only reason to seek lower bases since 50mm+ you need all the elevation you can get for the bell to clear the barrel and a lower base is a mute point when youll just have to get higher rings.

Have all thus far mentioned... The Burris XTR Two-Piece Picatinny base is the lowest you are going to get.

I've had issues with objective bell clearing the rail on shorter tube scopes more so than clearing the barrel lately. Getting the height from rings rather than rail helps that a bit, not having too much rail up front of the front mounting screw does so more.

I have several sets of the Burris XTR 2PC bases. They are nice for getting low to the barrel.
