Most likely going to be hunting Colorado OTC archery or 2nd rifle, never later than that. For the archery, would the zephyr GTX be ok since I will be active staying moving?

Also, as far as the mid vs hi... do the mid offer ample ankle support steep terrain?

I had a set of zephyrs and loved them. I'm not sure if they would be a great choice for a later season elk hunt though.

They had enough support for me to side hill on fairly steep terrain. However, I never did this with a heavy pack with them, I'm sure that a heavier boot would outperform them in that regard. The reason I never snagged another pair was that traction was terrible when it got cold. With snow and ice on the trail they turned into ice skates.

I think they're a fantastic warm weather boot, but unless they've changed up the soles I wouldn't recommend them for anything involving snow.

And did you use the hi version or the mid? I’m worried the mid didn’t feel like they had enough support, but I may be over thinking it

I had the mid version. I don't think that support wise there would be a whole lot of difference. If anything I prefer a lower cut when it comes to lighter boots like this.

Hope this helped a bit
