Does anyone have any extended experience with these in the mountain to share?

I have a pair of Kenetrek Mountain Extremes that I really like for colder weather, but they only fit me well with the really thick smart wool mountaineering socks. With anything thinner I get hot spots and eventually blisters on my heels. So, the Kene's end up being a little too much boot/sock for warm weather hunts.

I had been eying these Lowa Uplanders for awhile now, but no one in my area carries them. I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair off amazon to try them on. Very comfortable, and although more of a combat boot, I think they would work well for my early season hunts. They are comfortable enough to run in, and the few review I have found (mostly from military guys) are all good.

They remind me a lot of the Danner Ridgemasters I had and loved how they fit, but I went through 3 pair of those boots in a year because they kept leaking. Which is probably what has me concerned. Before I take these out, wanted to see if anyone can comment on how they manage the water in the long run.

I picked up a pair a few years back and really liked most of them, if they offered a wide I would probably own a few pairs! So light on the foot and perfect flex but bit to narrow for my little squares!

I have a pair I've been using whitetail hunting here in the mountains of Virginia. I really like them but can't comment on how they would do in the real mountains out west. I have packed a few heavy loads wearing them and they did well. I plan on wearing Salamons for my elk hunt next year and not the Uplanders.

God Bless.
