Haha yea didn't put two and two together in my haste. I remember looking at the sizing charts now, when I got my Mountain Lights. Wish I had bigger feet I'd try to snag em! The Tibets much stiffer than the Hanwag Mountain Lights?

I tried a pair of the Lowa Baffin Pro LL and they were stiffer than my Hanwag Ancash. I know that is a little bit apples to oranges but the Baffin Pro LL was supposed to be essentially the same boot as the Tibet. The Ancash is pretty much equivalent to the Alaska as far as I can discern (even called Hanwag). Not sure exactly how the Mountain Light compares to the Alaskas but I'm assuming they are essentially a lighter weight better breathing version. I know it's a reach on my comparisons.....lol. But I'd assume the Tibet's slightly stiffer in the shank but not in a bad way. The biggest difference I can note between Hanwag and Lowa boots is the Hanwag will have a narrower heel and a deeper pull speed lace at the ankle flex point which allows me to lock my heel in the Hanwag. I haven't been able to do that in the 2 pairs of Lowa boots I've tried. Hope that helped and didn't muddy the waters.....lol.

Just dumped a pair of Zamberlan Civetta due to the poor quality (rand started separating after only 100 miles of dry and easy hikes) and lack of stiff sole and ankle support. I want a stiff sole with good ankle support so I've been researching the differences between the Lowa Tibet LL vs Baffin Pro, and the Hanwag Alaska vs Ancash. So based on your thorough review I guess im going to go with the Lowa Tibets LL, as their sole is stiffer than the Hanwags. Thank you.

I had the Tibet GTX. Super comfy boot, but really stiff. I ended up selling them.

I just ordered 3 pairs of Lowa's to try out, Camino, Renegade, and Catalan. All LL. I kept the Camino. It was the stiffest of the 3, but softer than the Tibet. The leather lining is sweet! I wore them for an Insanity workout the other day to test breath ability. My feet sweated less than in my normal workout shoes. Next test is waterproofing, but they shed water incredibly well.

ok, I'm a bit confused, so bare with me guys. All these different types of Tibets...There was a sale yesterday on Amazon and shoebuy where I actually bought one from each. Shoebuy its free shipping either way, so can't loose on that, plus I finally get to try a pair of Tibets. My question is on the shoebuy site they listed Lowa GTX w/ the Gore lining, and then on Amazon they listed as the Lowa Tibet trekker boot LL, for the leather lining. I live in Austin Tx and we get some heat here and from what I've read from you guys the LL lining is pretty good. Is the LL Lowa boot still the GTX model? I've read that there were some older models out there and just wanted to make sure I'm trying on the newer versions of the Tibet. I'm broke, so I could not pass up a $270 dollar Tibet. Just hope they fit...If not, Amazon will cost me probably $10 bucks to ship back, and shoebuy free. Great deals. ANy help clarifying this would be appreciated. Thanks

The leather lined are not goretex. Some people prefer them and say they are more breathable than goretex. They just use an aftermarket waterproof cream or spray for waterproofing.

The gtx model is lined with goretex.

The leather lined are fine for wet grass and shallow creek crossings if you treat the leather. They definitely breath better and keep my feet dryer than the goretex boots I had been using for years. I haven't tried it yet but you can seam seal the stitching to make them much more water resistant and I'll be doing this soon to my Yukons. I had the Lowa Tibets LL but they didn't fit but I wished they had because they were really nice boots.

So just got my first pair from shoebuy, and looks like Lowa's are just not for me. I have a pretty decent heal slip that will not go away even after a couple different lace ups. Man!! So bummed, because these boots look solid as a tank. Also i have a bunion that i can definitely feel on the side of the boot. It even feels a bit large....Hard to tell where my toe is, but may have an inch space in the box. I'm measure a 10 1/2 and my solomans are still the best fit so far. Zamberlin vios I tried at REI is a close 2nd, but still a tad heal slip. Don't know what to do. Sucks! Cant afford a custom fit by L&S but maybe one day I can save up. Waiting for the LL Tibets that should be coming monday.

Just got the Tibet LL size 11d (regular) and again is a beautiful boot. After wearing them in my house for a couple hours so far and walking up and down two flights of stairs over and over, I can say these boots are definitely smaller then my Tibet size 11d, in toe length. Almost a half size smaller. Also they feel a bit tighter then the Gortex that I have from shoebuy. A bit disappointed these are not working yet. I'm going to take both pairs to REI and try different inserts in both pairs and see if it makes any difference. I'm not sure why I'm so hell bent to to make these work except if they did, I would not need another pair for a few seasons which would save me money in the end. Every dollar counts and these would be 100bucks more then the Saloman boots which fit great, but from just one hunt in them, they already got a nice bite out of the side. Other then that, just rambling on with boots...Just cant figure out these boots and my heal slip in both pairs, but Salomans Zero slip.

I was never able to find a Lowa boot to fit my foot and hold my heel down. I agree though, beautifully made boots for sure! Just remember though, FIT is everything. Plenty of well made boots out there.

As far as inserts/insoles go, if you have a volume issue - you might consider the Meindle Perfekt insoles from Cabelas. They have a cork footbed and take up a good bit of volume to possibly help a boot work for you.

Good luck to you!
