I buy my boots at a local store called Bakers Boots and they carry a grease/seal thats for the Lowa boots. i have used Hubbards grease on them before and it seemed to work just fine. As far as shortening the life of your boots, how long do you expect to get out of your boots? I tend to walk the soles off mine in 2-2.5 years, at which I replace them. I know some guys want a decade or more out of their boots, thats not for me. I wear mine probably around 350 days a year so I want a really comfortable boot, your feet take you every step of everything you do. if I spend $400 every 2 years on a pare of boots that equates to less than 50 cents a day for comfort, thats pretty cheap in my book

The leather on your Lowas should have plenty of life left when the soles go south. I send mine in to get resoled for about $150. I don't wear mine 350 days a year, but I put quite a few days on them. I want a really comfortable boot too.

I would never put Hubbards on mine, but it sounds like you have found a system you are happy with.

For you SnoSeal users do you notice any issues with decreased breathability?

Well yes, sno-seal is basically wax. But to me no gore boot, leather or otherwise is all that breathable to begin with or will stay waterproof forever if you are using them. So I do the same routine on all my boots I seam seal and wax them when they are brand new.

I've got 2 pairs of boots one for dry weather one for wet. Both are Tibet LL. I do notice a difference between the sno sealed pair and the non. But it's not remarkable. My feet sweat and get wet either way.

This is my experience. I avoid Gore tex. They always leak after a little use , don't breath all that well when new , and once the pores clog with dead skin and dust it's just a plastic bag that doesn't breath at all. A plain leather lined boot breathes better regardless if it has been waxed or not. I seam seal and snoseal my boots. Except for my current pair which have Goretex. The Zamberlans fit me but I had damp cold feet for the first time in years. I had spare socks with me so changing them after the hike in cured the cold feet. I'm going to see about a non Goretex Zamberlan boot but I sure wished LL Tibets fit my feet as my seach for the perfect boot would be done.
