The Senergy's are a gel style insert and are a little on the spongy side. I don't think they will give you better arch support if that is what you need. I would give Lantrop and sons a call they are feet people and can lead you in the right direction.

Great discussion...I wear Lowa Tibet boots and experience the same pain at the ball of my foot, especially descending the steeps. I went to the local gear supplier and he recommended against Surefoot (even though that's all he sold) for this type of pain as they are designed more for arch support, not cushioning. The Lowas have and an extremely hard and stiff sole which is great for the rough country, but provides no cushioning whatsoever. He recommended Dr. Scholl's for extra cushioning, but I'm concerned about stability. I have a 20 mile scouting trip planned this weekend so I need to pull the trigger on new insoles soon.

What size do you wear? I have a pair of Synergy's from Lathrop & Sons that I don't like. They are used, but I'll send them to you if you want to try them. Size 12.5.

I really like spynco Reds. Good support and pretty good cushion. It's what I run in all my boots after running through superfeet

Just got a pair of Tibets. I had a pair of Orange Superfeet, but did not like how they fit - to high in the heal and to tight. Went to the store and tried the blue superfeet and a much better fit and feel with no heal slippage.

I have been testing the Spenco PolySorb Cross Trainer insoles in my Tibets for the past 4 months or so and have no complaints at all with them. They do have a little bit higher heel profile than the Synergy Insoles but I have had zero issues with them. For the price the Spenco PolySorb Cross Trainer seem to be a good choice for these boots.
