low cut early season hunting shoe

I'm looking for a low cut shoe for Sept. hunting. I'll bring boots as well but would really like to try low cut / light weight shoes as I don't really have any ankle issues. Any suggestions? Considering the Salomon X Ultras with the regular lace system.

I have a pair of Lowa Renegade GTX Lo and I love 'em. Their regular price is hard to justify but maybe you could find them on sale or factory defects on Ebay like I did.
