Louisiana passes new law for Seniors (over 65) for primitive deer season

What’s considered primitive for non seniors? Seems crazy to me. Why not X bow in archery, scoped ML in ML, etc. Guys walking around the woods with rifles during archery season. Hmmmm

Bow season is not primitive season here. You can use bows all season long, but not primitive weapons (firearms) during bow season. We have a season that was originally designed for muzzle loaders (called primitive season at the time), and it was later changed to minimum 35 caliber break action rifles (single shot). 45-70 and 35 Whelen were two very popular choices, fired from the H&R Handi Rifle or similar. Younger than 65, still falls under the 35 or larger single shot. This new law allows old folks to carry any legal weapon during the primitive season.

So they could carry a single shot or break over large caliber rifle and now they can carry any rifle? That really doesn't seem like too big of a difference to me.

I would of been more upset when they started letting any cartridge rifles be used during muzzy season, single shot or not.
