Sorry to hear about your dog, they really are the greatest of friends, they don't judge, are easily pleased, and are happiest when they are with you. Tonight, a drink in honor of Haley.

Putting my husky down two years ago is the hardest thing I've ever done. It leaves a scar no doubt.

I will raise a glass tonight in your honor OP.

Brother..I feel for you. Ive had to put a couple down over the years and its simply shit. As the saying goes.."All dogs go to heaven.."

My avatar pic is of my baby passed da fuq out on one of my crocs after a long day of fetching Mallards. He is simply the best pal I've ever had.

I do suggest that you take a good HD pic you have of him and get it printed and framed. You will always be glad you did.

Thanks everyone. Its been a tough day to say the least. Her passing went very well. She seamed very calm at at peace. I feel relief for her. I know her pain is over and I hope she is in a better place. It is hard knowing she wont be behind me when I look back anymore.

Prayers sent your way. Remember it takes a hell of a lot of love to make that call. It is absolutely brutal for us left behind. Remember this though. She was born into this world and was lucky enough to be a part of your life. A good life it sounds like.

I am very sorry for your loss. I had to do this almost exactly one year ago to the day with our 14 year old German shorthair. They really do become part of your family and when they are gone, damn it's hard. Even after a year it is still difficult. However it does get better with each day. Looks/sounds like you had a true companion and I like to think that the pain we feel when they are gone is worth the many years of pure enjoyment we receive by having them part of the family. Again, sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss. I must admit, i got emotional just thinking about it. When my 3 yr old goes, it will kill me.

OP; you did the best thing for pup, gave her the best life possible, and supported her till the end. Time heals, memories will last a long time.
For what its worth, Ive been in your shoes 3 times in the last 7 years with pets. Its probably the hardest thing to do. I feel for you.
got tears typing this now..
Matter of fact Im gunna grill up an extra elk steak for my choc lab Tanner tonight, and then sit by the fire outside with him at my feet.

Thanks for updating us. Love that picture. Here's a Sunday morning (orange juice) toast to good men and better dogs. Cheers.

It's never easy making a decision like that, and most of the time the best one is the hardest one. I've seen it made too quickly and too late, late is worse. If one of God's measures of righteousness is the way we treat our animals, it seems only fitting he holds a place for them as well.
