darn.

i ordered a MBG custom ascent.
i want to build up a more western hunting friendly bow. 3-pin with slider. i just missed a long shot last week, for a myriad reasons..hope this sight helps.

BUT!::
the sight ring smaller than my original spot hogg, and just holding it up there to the mount holes in my riser, it will be much further foward..hence smaller circle.

i shoot a big arse 1/4" peep now. 3/16th gonna be a big enough drop? should i buy the meta peep? i just shoot generic black ones up till now.

I have never had to do it but you can buy a small peep and then drill it out one size larger at a time until its perfect....

I have done the exact same thing that you are talking about here lately. I went from the large ring Spot Hogg to a 1 3/4" Black Gold ring on a 6" dovetail. I was previously using the 3/16" size but did not get a great match on the smaller ring. I just dropped down to the next size smaller, 1/8" I think, and it matches perfect! I don't have a problem looking through that small of a peep and everything looks very clear to me, but I know not everyone's eyes can adjust to something that small.

It also depends on your bow ATA. I shoot a 35" ATA bow so my string angle is not very steep and thus the peep sits pretty close to my eye. In comparison, if you were shooting a short ATA bow and you had a steep string angle then the peep would be farther from your eye at full draw. If this is the case then you might want to stick with the 3/16".

The meta peeps are great, I have used them and have been very happy with them. I am currently using the Hot Shot Red Eye peep and love it. They are tapered to have a smaller opening closer to your eye, the an expanded opening on the backside for better eye relief. They are also light weight and aluminum built. I think it is worth the extra few bucks for a good peep personally. Hope this helps!
