Hmmmm. What’s your budget? I may be tempted to sell my Cooper Model 51 in .204 Ruger. Stainless 26” barrel with detachable magazine. It has a Leupold VX-6 HD 4-24 scope on it.

Shot these 4 cottontails with it yesterday evening. It has also taken coyotes out past 500 yards.

How do you like the 204? Any experience comparing it to a 223? There is a Howa Mini for sale locally I am tempted by.

I love the .204. I’ve been shooting it for over 5 years now. Ballistics are fantastic for such a small pill.

When compared to the .223 it shoots flatter which means less dialing on longer shots. A 40 grain .204 drops about 8” less than a 53 grain .223 at 500 yards as one example.

It hits hard with that speed too. I’ve absolutely laid out coyotes with it. Split squirrels and rabbits clean in half. It’s one of my favorite cartridges to take into the field year round.

.223 is also a great choice though. Lots of ammo options and it’s cheaper to shoot. Great performance too.
