Looking for new boots? Zamberlan Guide 960 GTX

Brock, can you compare the fit on these to other boots? say the lowa tibets? so if a guy has a little wider foot it sounds like these may not work? do you consider them to run true to size? I've read a couple places that they run a little big.

thanks

Unfortunately I cant compare to the lowa Tibets. I have been wearing the Salomon Quest for the last 2 year so that is what I am used to.

I don't necessarily think that these boots are for a "narrow footed individual" only. They are in that "happy medium" range where as long as you don't have super wide or super narrow feet they would probably work. I hope that makes sense?

Sizing is true to size. I wear a 13 in everything and these are a 13 as well.

Brock told me this final review is gettin close. I'll post on this thread when I publish it. Looking forward to hearing about these

Any updates on how these have performed for you during the season? My Salomon Quest's just died over the weekend on an elk hunt, Goretex ripped and feet got soaked. I am not sure the Quests where designed for the abuse of hunting, as they only lasted me 1 year.

YES! I have to apologize for not having this review done sooner. But I take pride in testing my gear in real life scenarios. With that being said these boots have alot of miles on them so far. Including a pack out on a early season mule deer. The more I wear them the comfier they get. They are starting to show a little wear in places (soles, scuffed leather, ect). The rand is holding up solid and I haven't had any issues with leaking. So far so good!

Another plug for the more flexible 1005 HUNTER PRO GTX RR WL (WIDE). I've got last years model of this, the 1012 Vioz, but effectively it's the same boot.

Mountain Boots Trekking BOOTS Shoes Manufacturer - Zamberlan

I've done a minimum of 25-30,000 vertical feet in them so far this year hiking and hunting including 3 solo hunting trips average 4-5000' vertical each, much of that steep x-country work, packing out a decent sized bear and decent Muley each solo from the alpine territory with pack weights ranging from 50-90+ lbs. They've done very well and look nearly new still. I think the flexfit ankle articulation (Zamberlan Flex System) is the way to go for most of us in most situations. Very impressed. Talked Lathrop and Sons before ordering and confirmed this would fit my foot well. Would definitely talk with Lathrop first...

This review should be hitting the World Wide Web here any day now. I apologize for the delay but I wanted some real world testing.

My 960's are greased up and ready to hit the mountains, I leave today for a 10 day deer and elk hunt. If I cant get to any questions while I am gone, I promise I will address them when I get back to service!

Nice review Brock. I used a different lacing system on my 960's, and it mitigated the pressure on top of my foot. I just bought the wrong size..doh! I have the 980's now for a little more coverage trudging through snow in later seasons. Bought the right size in them lol. All in all they are fantastic boots. I wear their 230 Crossers during most of the season and they are an alternative to Quest 4's that guys need to check out. Mine are still going strong after two years while my partners have gone through multiple pairs of the Quests.
