Does anyone know of a meat packer in the Jarbidge Nevada area? My hunting buddy fell through so I’ll be alone. Would like to look at options!

Hey there. Cottonwood is the only one licensed for the area I was hunting (southeast side). They were very helpful on the phone and agreed to pack out my elf if I messaged them from within the wilderness. When I arrived in the wilderness, I reached out via In Reach a couple times and never got a reply, so good thing I didn't have an animal down! Anyway, I'm not sure how reliable they are for this type of thing. Their focus is on guiding their own clients. Obviously, you can't go in as deep if you don't have a horse packer or a bunch of guys to help you. I wouldn't hunt solo there again.

Thanks for the info. I put this area as my #1 choice this year for Archery Elk and Archery Mule Deer. With 5 points for Elk and 3 for Mule Deer I'm feeling fairly lucky. There's a good chance I'll be solo.

Awesome. I have bow hunted this unit as well with a cow tag. Saw lots of bulls in 2017. There are 1/3 as many elk in the unit now. NDOW has slashed the population over pressure from the cattle grazing industry. Also, watch out for sheep! They will destroy a hunt day, the elk won't share a basin with them, or more likely the dogs. The sheep are a big deal during archery season. Good luck! That's my favorite place to hunt besides the Rubies.
